The entire INBOX disappeared. How can I get Thunderbird to show it again?

I have a Windows 10 PC. I just downloaded thousands of emails from my CenturyLink email server. The emails were apparently successfully downloaded, but I can't see any of them because the entire INBOX disappeared. When I open Thunderbird, all the other folders are there, but no INBOX.

How can I get the INBOX to show again?

Could this in any way be related to IMAP vs. POP. I used IMAP. I saw several people reporting problems with IMAP. Should I switch to POP?

I have five separate email accounts on xfinity: call them b, 3, 7, a, and p. All of them are set up in Thunderbird. Any attempt to send an email through Thunderbird on any of the accounts opens a window requesting the password for 7. The password for 7 is in Password Manager. If I copy and paste the password from the Password Manager or from KeyPassX I get the "Login to server smtp.comcast.net with username 7 failed" with an "Enter New Password" button in the pop-up. The password is correct and still current as verified by opening my xfinity account directly. This has been happening sporadically and randomly (correcting itself sporadically and randomly) for many months and for several updates. I have tried all the suggestions posted on this forum for other victims, but none of them have been successful for me.

The attached picture shows what my Address Book columns look like. I am unable to expand the list name column so that I can read all of the name.

When I hover my mouse over the list name column I get a thick gray line, but there is no way to get the column to move right.

How do I move that column to the right so I can see all of the name?

Hello I am a long time user of Thunderbird, I am on the update channel, I am a retired technical support consultant so hopefully I have tried many of the obvious things. Nine times out of 10 if I send an email from Thunderbird mail to a Gmail address it gets rejected. Quite often if I try a second time it's okay but just recently it's been getting worse and this afternoon I tried about eight or nine tries and finally gave up. The problem is definitely a thunderbird problem as if I use other email clients or send mail from the ISP's website to a Gmail address this problem does not exist. Thank you in ADVANCE, Martin

My ISP is stopping its email service (accessed via Thunderbird) at the end of June so I've set up a Gmail account (also accessed via Thunderbird) and created folders corresponding to those in the old account. I've located the profile folder for my old account, and tried to import my old emails from this via Tools > Import in my new account, but only the contents of one folder in the old account have been transferred. I've repeated this a number of times with no greater success, but what I do now have is a series of duplicate folders and 'Thunderbird Import' folders that have been generated in my old account (see screenshot).

How can I get my other old emails into my new account?

I have installed TB 102 on mx Linux 21.3. The profile folder, which-- to add confusion to peasants like me, the name is now XXXX.release-default-- but that is not my question. I noticed that the profile folder was HUGE (13 gb!!), and when I looked inside I found that under ImapMail there are FOUR different folders: Imap.gmail.com-1, Imap.gmail.com-2, Imap.gmail.com-3, Imap.gmail.com-4, each with approx. 2 gb or more. What is going on? In TB 78 the corresponding folder (with mail from many years) was approx. 4 gb.

  Please explain-- I like using TB, but it is a constant struggle for no good reason that I can discern.

Please excuse my unfamiliarity with the technical vocabulary.

Earlier this year I switched on Thunderbird to see what new emails had arrived. It started downloading ALL my emails from two of the five email accounts I have. I have a lot of emails as the accounts date from 2010.

Because I was concerned that I might exceed limits on the number of emails I can store on Thunderbird I spent hours going through the different folders and deleting as many of the duplicates as I could.

I switched on Thunderbird today and saw that the same process was happening again. In the time it took me to click on 'Work Offline' it had downloaded 263 emails I already have!

I would be very grateful if someone could tell me:

How can I stop it downloading the hundreds of other old emails? How can I stop this process ever happening again? Why is it happening at all?

For obvious reasons I have unticked the 'Email me when someone answers the thread' so I may be a little slow in acknowledging any responses.

I can't send out any emails. I get this message, and I'm not a computer whiz. "Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail: Outgoing server (SMTP) error. The server responded: smtp687.syd.oss-core.net Off-net-IP Detected." I tether my mobile phone to my internet to send emails. My phone doesn't receive emails at all as it's not set up to receive emails.

I use multiple computers and operating systems. During a single day I could use three different computers, each of which has Windows 10 or 11 and Linux Mint (20+) on them. I use Thunderbird on each computer and in each operating system.

What I am trying to do is to use one Thunderbird profile across all implementations of Thunderbird. Is it possible to put the Thunderbird profile on a cloud server and run Thunderbird using the cloud based profile? I have both Dropbox and One Drive available. My preference would be to use One Drive because my employer (a university) offers this to all of its employees. Dropbox would be acceptable. Can I use either of these?

Are there any tips I need to implement this?

Current version of Thunderbird is 102.11.2 (64-bit)

I have the same issue as this year-old, unanswered thread: [wrap sent message view?]

What I want: I want all my sent e-mail messaged to by default be written and formatted as:

  • Plain text
  • Fixed width
  • Automatically line break/word wrap (unsure of the correct eng. term), at 72 characters
  • I also want to SEE the 72-character line break/inline WHILE I COMPOSE the message, no matter the size of my e-mail composing window (I have a large monitor)

What I have done:

  • Found the mailnews.wraplength setting in config editor, and set it to 72 (it was already on 72)
  • Set Composition to: Font: Fixed width, Sending format: Only Plain Text

The issue:

  • When creating a new email, the "font" setting i Fixed width
  • When pasting/replying to that same e-mail, everything goes to variable width, calibri, other formatting
  • In any case, the TEXT DOES NOT WORD WRAP/LINE BREAK AT 72 CHARACTERS

I have also tried troubleshooting mode.

I will attach the picture, but after the last update the icon doesn't update in the toolbar on Windows. If you restart Thunderbird it works on the first mail get, then stays stuck at the number forever. I found the same issue reported on an ubuntu forum, but couldn't find a windows report about it. Not sure how to submit an actual bug report.

Using TB version 102.10.1. Been recently getting messages from three different senders that I wish to delete before they hit my inbox. I read the help article at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/blocking-sender and followed the directions to set up a Block List filter, adding the senders to it. It seems to work automatically for two of the senders but not the other...I have to manually run the filter to make it work. Seems kinda pointless when, if it hits my inbox, I can just delete it anyway. Any ideas why it is still getting through the filter and how to fix it? See screenshots attached.

I must apologize for repeated messages but I got no responses until I checked spam this evening. Somehow the one message went to an email account that does not exist. I went 12 days unable to send mail and somehow tonight it was fixed. I have to think there was a patch made that solved the problem. But yes, I did repeated messaged hoping for an answer. I am sorry someone was offended but I was desperate and got NO answers to my email address. As a Mozilla/thunderbird supporter I am disappointed.

This is a question out there for a week or more but I recently noticed that the sent mail category has disappeared. This morning I removed the account and then reinstalled it. EVERYTHING is configured correctly but nothing was fixed. Ii am puzzled as I made no changes to anything before this started. I hope someone out there has a suggestion I can follow and implement without screwing up my other accounts.
