Hello

My TB data spans decades, for emails, tasks & events [oh, & also contacts]. I've lost count of however many TB iterations / versions it's lived thru. It began life yonks ago in Win7, & lives now, for many years, in Linux.

For at least a couple of years, my Calendar has had this annoying problem. For many Events, but not all, it is just impossible to directly duplicate them. Both Ctrl-C Ctrl-V, & RMB-Copy RMB-Paste, simply do NOTHING [for it seems like the majority (but not entirety) of my Events].

Research lead me to https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2015334 [my distro is #Arch not #Fedora, but IMO that's irrelevant]. I was galled to see that bug report was closed without action or solution; also that it was raised only with Redhat not actually Thunderbird.

In exasperation, recently i conceived this inefficient albeit effective workaround: for the target Event, RMB-ConvertTo-Task, then edit said new task to desired date for the intended duplicate, then convert said task to a new Event... then correct all the text formatting that was lost by this silly indirect process.

I've wondered if possibly the database has become corrupted somehow due to surviving all the historical TB version changes, to cause this duplication problem. So last night i thought i'd Export the Tasks & Events ICS file, then Import it into a clean TB profile elsewhere [in some vague hope that this process might magically "fix" any putative data corruption]. The Export nominally succeeded, being an 81 MB file. The Import failed every time, with the error msg per pic.

What is a frustrated TB user now supposed to do, please? [btw, current version is 102.10.1 (64-bit), in ArchLinux KDE Plasma].

Recently I was unable to SEND invites to anyone, but I fixed that. My e-mail address had disappeared from the "edit calendar" window, who knows why that happened, I have added it back.

Now I can send invites to others including a second email account of mine, the ICS files arrive but when opened the "Import Event" button does nothing.

Everything was normal until a week or so ago, then something broke or maybe there was an update that had a bug in it?

Any suggestions for a fix?

Lightning Caldav sync issue changing time appointment

Hi Volunteers,

I will be trying to be nice in putting this question, and doing my best to explain.

I use thunderbird lightning calendar as my daily navigator. I connect by the 'CalDAV' protocol to my email/calendar provider. The connection link looks somewhat like this:

https://.....com/interface/caldav.php/calendars/user@mail.com/calendar/

The idea was to sync my appointments to my mail host servers and have a safe backup like this. Now, the issue that comes in, is about time. For every new event I create the time changes unexpectedly on the day of the event by 2 hours difference. When I add a 'Reminder' it is even worse. It will change the time by 2 hours later instantly. I need to open the event again change it to 2 hours early (15.00 becomes 13.00) and then lightning will set the correct time (15.00) But....at the day the event takes place, again lightning will set the wrong time for the same event. Very unhandy.

I started to check the system time of the o.s., which is correct now. I checked the bios time, which is correct. I checked 'timezone' under settings (calendar) . It says Europe which is correct. (By the way the provider servers are also in europe, it should be correct)

Now, I cannot figure out what causes the issue. Maybe very far fetched, I hard copied the thunderbird profile I use from a windows thunderbird application to a linux thunderbird profile. Never had problems with that procedure. Could there be a reason for this lightning time issue hidden in there? Later I started using caldav to sync my messages to my provider servers' .

I opened a ticket for my email provider explaining this problem, but they claim they have no answer for it. They state that for other mail applications like outlook calendar work good and the problem doesn't occur. Which is the point where I created this ticket and ask politely for your support.

Thanks.

Dirk.

Since over a month, my calendars stopped syncing. The calendars were syncing with caldav calendars on hostgator hosting. The funny thing is that it stopped syncing with every device I have including android. I contacted hostgator and they told me that they only tested it on apple computers and not on PCs. I know it has to do with some security updates they made on the hosting services, but I cannot find a solution. It cannot be that I have to depend on an apple in order for me to have connection with a caldav account. Does anyone have a similar problem? Do you have a solution for me before I change my hosting provider ?

Hi!

I recently added my caldav calendar to thunderbird and noticed that the event times are off by an hour. Going into Settings -> Calendar, there's a drop down for timezone, the selected one is UTC+1 whereas I'm on UTC+0 and I can't seem to set it to plain GMT/UTC (I can select that timezone on single events though), and there does not seem to be a single country or region in that timezone list that's on UTC+0 with no DST.

Is there some way to set the calendar time zone to UTC+0?

To all, I have been having a long-time issue with my remote biz partner who is in the Apple ecosystem. Whenever I send him a calendar into to an event, he cannot get it to populate into his Apple calendar. This is what he sees when opening up the invite.

I am sure there's an easy fix such that he can click on my invite sent through Thunderbird/Lightning and get it to automatically populate his Apple calendar. Could someone help, thanks.

Hey, I have 6 different parent email addresses in thunderbird that are all google workspace email accounts. They all have calendars. In other mail clients, when I log in to any of these email accounts, the google calendars are found right away and viewable in the mail clients. With thunderbird, there are a small handfull of the email accounts who's calendars are never found.

I've removed the email profile, completely remoted thunderbird from my machine, re installed, and the same mail clients have the same issue. This morning I installed thunderbird on another machine, set up the same email addresses, and again the same ones never find their associated calendars. I also just set up thunderbird for someone else this morning and they have had the same issue, which has finally bought me to making this post.

It's the only frustration I have with using thunderbird, and I'd really appreciate anyone's insight in to why some calendars are loaded and not others, and what gmail settings I might need to change to fix this.

Thank you!

Hello,

In the Agenda view, I once made the "Find events" pane (shown in the answer to this question) disappear by reducing its size down to zero. Now I can't bring it back on. I love my big full-screen calendar, but this pane was still nice to have sometimes! I guess a toggle to display this pane should be accessible in the menu (e.g. View -> Agenda -> Agenda panes -> Find events).

Thanks for the good work. I love the new 102 version!

Hi all,

My organization uses login@example.org as mailboxes and name.surname@example.org as aliases of these mailboxes. Currently, the invites sent from Thunderbird's calendar are sent from login@example.org.

1. Is there a client-side way to make Thunderbird send invites from name.surname@example.org? Knowing that such e-mail is already selected in Thunderbird (see image) but invites are still sent from login@ 2. Since all clients behave the same (Android clients, Outlook, ...), would a server-side setting exist to tell all e-mails clients to default e-mail invites to an alias instead of the regular mailbox name?

Last month, my caldav accounts all stopped syncing. I get a n error stating (NS_ERROR_UNKNOWN_HOST). I am using TBsync, and have multiple calendars set up for sharing on our webhost, and all worked perfectly for about the last year. I have tried up-dating Thunderbird, reverting to an older copy of Thunderbird, running Thunderbird in troubleshooting mode, un-loading and re-loading the extensions, performing a system restore on my PC to a date before the trouble started, basically everything I could think of. Below is a portion of the error message I find in the developer tools error reporting:

[calCachedCalendar] replay action failed: <unknown>, uri=https://mail

Can you help troubleshoot this issue? We use Thunderbird on our department for crew scheduling, and are suffering without this feature being operational. Thank you, JMB

I've made numerous attempts to sync Titan Mail Calendar with Thunderbird and none have been successful. At one point, I got it to work only to have it stop working the next day. I have searched Thunderbird and Titan help and have not found what I need to know.

These are the questions I have:

  • Is it possible to reliably sync Titan Calendar with Thunderbird? With the TbSync addon?
  • Is it possible to sync bi-directionally? To create/modify/delete Titan Calendar entries with Thunderbird?
  • If it is possible to sync, what are the Titan parameters?
  * Titan Calendar server URL/Host-name?
