Hi there,

So everytime i launch TB this windows always show up. I have tried fill the new password but it seem nothing change, it always show up on launch.

I can fill the both of the new password with anything even with nothing and press ok and this windows will dissaper but after that i dont see any account or folder. I have tried to add an account but failed, nothing happen after i press OK button.

Hello,

We have a several computers, all on the same network and use the same internet connection, but a very strange situation happens in one of the PCs.

Always Thunderbird is running, there is no problem and all the emails I receive are marked as "unread" (stay bold and so far everything is correct). Now always Thunderbird is NOT running, all the emails they send me during that time, the next time that run/open Thunderbird and load the emails will appear as "read" (No bold). Why?

I already thought it could be because I had set up the phone and made some interference, but we did the same experience with another email and PC worked correctly.

I already changed Antivirus, checked if the PC had viruses. I created a rule whenever I received a new email would go to another folder, and other ideas, but without success.

Can anyone help me?

The concept of threading is great, but sometimes I cannot see any reason why an email has been threaded the way it has. I can't really understand the rules it uses. When I am simply moving a reply or forwarded email from Sent Mail to Inbox it usually works great but if it has gone wrong I want to be able to unthread it. An email which has been wrongly threaded can seem to disappear. When I have found it I may want to isolate it or put it in a different thread.

I'm trying to set up an iCloud Mail account in Thunderbird, and the account setup won't finish. I've filled in all the information, and clicked Done, and it comes back with "Password OK"... but then nothing happens. The account doesn't appear on the Inbox screen, and the Account Setup screen stays exactly where it is, except with the "Done" button disabled. The only apparent options I have are "Cancel" and close the tab, which have both resulted in the setup being cancelled.

What's happening, and what can I do to push this towards a proper conclusion?

I'm having an issue sending emails from my GoDaddy business email account, which is part of the Microsoft Office Essentials suite from GoDaddy. Specifically, I'm unable to send emails using the Thunderbird desktop application (version 102.9.0). - I can receive emails without any problem, but when I try to send an email, I receive an error message that says:

"Login to account smtp.office365.com" failed. ? - Login to server smtp.office365.com with username my@email.com failed. Retry | Enter New Password | Cancel"

To provide some context, my SMTP server settings are as follows:

SMTP Server Server Name: smtp.office365.com Port: 587 Connection Security: STARTTLS Authentication Method: Normal Password Username: my@email.com

I contacted GoDaddy support, and they confirmed that my account and email are functioning correctly. However, the problem persists on the Thunderbird desktop application.

I have successfully set up other email accounts in Thunderbird using Gmail, and they are working fine. So, I suspect that the issue is related to my GoDaddy email account and Thunderbird.

I'm posting this message here in the hope that someone can help me resolve this issue on the Thunderbird desktop application. If anyone has any insights or suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it.

I have four accounts in Firefox, 1 gmail, 2 yahoo and 1 posteo - as of a few days ago, only the posteo.de account receives mail but none of the accounts can send mail, I repeatedly get the attached error message. Btw: I have not made any changes to any of the account settings.

I am receiving repeated "Mail Delivery Failed" error messages when sending to emails that I know are correct, even when all I've done is reply to an email address that successfully sent me an email in the first place. These are known emails from friends and businesses I work with.

This is an intermittent evet that does not always happen but recently it is the majority of the time. Confused and concerned.

I am using Thunderbird 102.3.0 on Win 11 PC.

Only after applying a recent update, am I getting the "Your message was sent but a copy was not placed in your sent folder (Sent Mail) due to network or file access errors. You can retry or save the message locally to Local Folders/Sent...etc" message.

My account is set up as IMAP with Westnet (though I can't see the incoming server settings in the new Thunderbird any more?) but those sent items are not being updated on their server either (I have checked by logging into webmail) or they would eventually appear in my Thunderbird account Sent folder.

My Copies and Folders settings have always been "Place a copy in "Sent folder on myemail@westnet.com.au". The alternative option is "Other - Sent on myemail@westnet.com.au". I don't know what the difference is? I don't want things stored only locally as I access my email on several devices.

I went back to an old version of Thunderbird and the issue went away. But I didn't stop it automatically updating so now I am back to having the issue.

This is serious enough that I will need to change to another app rather than lose my record of sent emails.

I have had a problem with duplicate emails over the past 2 weeks and today a new problem started. After trying yet another Repair of my Inbox, TB crashed. I requested a restart which it did. Once it had restarted, it promptly crashed again. It repeated this 5 or 6 times when I decided to uninstall TB and reinstall it. But it did not help. As soon as I started TB again it began to populate my Inbox with 10s of thousands of duplicate emails and then it crashed! I really need to read my email and I'm considering an alternate program. Can someone provide some guidance? Thanks!

I have had the same issues with TB freezing and locking up my PC that many here have had. For me, this has now gone on for almost 3 years. I have done everything I can think of, and everything I have read about online to deal with the constant freezing. I have: --upgraded countless times (now on Ver 102.9.0, 64 bit, Win 10, 32GB RAM, 3TB hard drive) --reinstalled Thunderbird many times --deleted various profiles and created new ones, deleted various config files as suggested. --reinstalled Windows 10, upgraded all associated files, drivers, etc. --started Windows in Safe Mode --disabled all add-ons and extensions in TB --reset all toolbars and controls in TB --started Thunderbird in Troubleshoot Mode --gave an exception to TB in my Windows Defender [and turned off Defender entirely] --ran MANY virus scans --disabled ALL virus software

Thunderbird is the ONLY piece of software on this PC that locks it up. It exhibits the same behavior that many here are seeing: freezes when I try to click on something; freezes when I try to reply to an email; freezes for no apparent reason. I can't MAKE it freeze up... it just seems to do it at random, constantly. Right now, it's open on another screen and has been frozen for about 3 minutes, and just unfroze. Most of the time, it freezes so that I cannot shut TB down. It is completely unresponsive. Sometimes it will freeze the computer so that I cannot do ANYTHING... I cannot open Task Manager and force a shutdown. Eventually, it releases and works again, only to freeze up a few minutes later.

I'm pretty much out of ideas, but I continue to browse online, looking for answers. As I said, three years of this is enough, and I see complaints about this going back even further. I love Thunderbird. I'm a longtime user and have not found any email client that comes close to the way TB works for me, so I'm VERY reluctant to leave. But I'm really tired of being a beta tester. And yes, I have donated many times over the years, and I'm happy to do so. I'm not concerned with the money. I just want it to work like it used to. If you have any fresh ideas, I'm very open to hearing them. But a warning, that I have likely already tried the fixes offered. I appreciate any input, in any event.

So, unless a miracle comes along, I reckon I'll have to cut bait and find a replacement for Thunderbird. Thanks for allowing me to blow off some long-held frustration.

I've recently migrated from POP3 to IMAP on my AT&T account, which uses sbcglobal.net in the Yahoo domain. I set up my outgoing server to be smtp.mail.yahoo.com through port 465 using SSL/TLS connection security and Oauth2 authentication, all unber Win10.

When i try to send an email, I see what looks like a browser window open up with the title "Enter credentials for my_email@sbcglobal.net on smtp.mail.yahoo.com. This window remains open only a few seconds with the a URL of

The windows them closes. If I wait long enough or cancel the send operation I see a popup that says

Send Message Error "Sending of the message failed. Unable to authenticate to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.mail.yahoo.com. Please check the password and verify the 'Authentication method' in 'Account Settings | Outgoing server (SMTP)'."

My default browser is chrome and I assume a Chrome window gets opened directed towards that URL. If I open a browser window and enter the above URL, I see "This site can’t be reached localhost refused to connect" from either Chrome of Firefox. I am absolutely certain my password is correct, so what am I doing wrong?

The dirty workaround worked for some weeks but now again Thunderbird has this really annoying behavior. This makes Thunderbird even more annoying than Outlook.

Any progress on this? Will the setting be permanently saved in the future? And will it be easy accessible in the menu? Any chance this can be disabled by default? Looks like only 3 people in the whole world use this...and 8 billion people have to deal with this trouble.

I run Thunderbird on 7 machines - both on linux and Windows...and this behavior really made it unusable. I really got into trouble since I didn't find messages through this behavior. Even I've overseen messages through this behavior. And when searching older messages, you can't sort them by date properly, since it's no straight timeline anymore... I really can't understand why this ever happened to Thunderbird, which was one (probably THE) best mailclients for more than 15 years now. But so its nearly completly useless and wastes time (and energy) every time for millions of users :(
