Set Firefox for Android to open links in native apps

We're making changes to how Firefox opens links in other apps to enhance your browsing security. At this time, you will always be prompted to confirm whether you wish to open links in other apps. Our team is continuously working to improve this process. To ensure you receive the latest fixes and enhancements, please update to the latest version of Firefox.

Starting in Firefox for Android version 81, you can now set Firefox to open links in native apps (such as Twitter, Instagram, etc). By default this is set to OFF.

Set Firefox to open links in apps

  1. Tap the menu button. Settings icon in address bar in android

  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll down to the Advanced section, next to Open links in apps use the slider button to turn this ON.
