Google Apps Email to Earthlink fail when there is an attachment but not from gmail web interface.
When I use Thunderbird to send a Google Apps (mydomain.com) email to an Earthlink account and the email has an attachment, the message is never delivered. I get warnings over several days and then a permanent failure like the one below.
I have worked with Earthlink engineers and they proved that the issue is not theirs because I can send the same message using th Gmail web interface.
They point to either my ISP or my client setup - Thunderbird. I have used multiple setups in addition to those specified for the domain. I have turned on both POP and IMAP but the problem is only outgoing. Emails with small attachments or no attachments are delivered to the same account without issue.
Here is the failure message:
Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:
user@earthlink.net
