After 3 week hiatus where Thunderbird was shut down, Thunderbird does not retrieve messages from a pop3 server. It is configured to use the AVG email scanner. Neither Thunderbird nor AVG appear to provide a place to change the password sent to the pop3 server. Thunderbird appears to query the server and find no emails, but a web-mail client shows emails on the server. No "wrong user-id/password" message appears. Could it still be a wrong password? The T-bird password file has the password for the smtp server (different from pop3 server) but not one for pop3 server. Should there be a password for the pop3 server? If so, how do I enter it?
