Enable grayed out "always do this" or set default to just freaking save without prompts!
When saving an xml file from a router configuration backup page, it prompts every time to open with. Grayed out: "Do This Automatically for files like this one from now on."
It says here https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/change-firefox-behavior-when-open-file Is "Do this automatically for files like this from now on" disabled? This can happen if the website's server incorrectly specifies the Internet Media type of the file. It also can happen if the server assigns "Content-Disposition: attachment" to the file.
Blaming the website? The sites code should not override a setting [currently missing from] firefox.
Simple solutions: 1) New Media type "Unknown" which by current standards would default to "ask" and I would then set to "Don't Ask" 2) Allow add media types (including a catch-all-else) 3) Add a checkbox to the applications settings "else never prompt" 4) Add a checkbox to the applications settings "otherise always save-as" 5) Add a never prompt domain-list to application settings.
I run across this every now and then over the years, I wish firefox devs would fix this.
