Despite sync, bookmarks missing from iOS

I have a Firefox account, and current Firefox software versions on both MacOS (Mac Powerbook) and iOS (iPhone 8+). But even after syncing multiple times, and restarting both devices, my iOS bookmarks list remains empty (just: "bookmarks you save will show up here") ... How do I get my MacOS FF bookmarks to show up on the iOS app? Thanks!
