Using a new search engine, but Firefox Focus rejects the desired search string

Trying to use a search engine (IxQuick StartPage www.startpage.com) as my default search engine. I have specific desires for cookie handling and search behavior. The search string it gives me to capture what I want is www.startpage.com/do/mypage.pl?prf=a24a932c77188a3d5298965bdae955a6. But when I try to enter it as the search string, Focus rejects it and asks for something according to a pattern that StartPage doesn't seem to offer. How do I get StartPage set up as default search engine with my preferences I text?
