Where is the Tags menu for the e-mail message composing window ?

more options

Hello, I just upgraded to TB 91. What happened to the Tags popdown in the compose window ?

Thank you,

Alain Damlamian

Chosen solution

The following are the Thunderbird default options for 'TAG' : The 'Tag' button/drop down is located on the 'Mail Toolbar' in the main ui where you see the Folder Pane and Thread Pane showing list of emails in selected folder. It is also available when you right click on a received email in either Thread Pane or Message Pane.

It is not in the 'Write' compose window.

The above is not new to version 91*, it is the standard that has been applied since forever.

If you previously had a 'TAG' option available in the Write compose window then you were using an addon extension.

The older 'Tag Toolbar' extension used to provide an option to also put the 'Tag Toolbar' in Write compose window, but I'm not seeing that option in the latest version which is now called 'Tag Popup' which does not use a separate Toolbar. Thunderbird removed the ability to add additional toolbars, so that's why the addon got adapted. https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/addon/tag-toolbar/

Addon extensions are not created by Thunderbird. They are the reponsibility of the author who created them, so you would need to contact the author regarding this. There may have been a reason for not including it in the 'Tag Popup' version. Please note: authors of addons do rely on donations in order to afford time to maintaining addons.

Hope the info explains why your 'TAG Toolbar' is no longer in Write window.

Thank you Toad-Hall for the explanations. You are correct that I had Tag Toolbar and it worked so well (much better than its present replacement, sadly).

Perhaps it is time to ask that Thunderbird included a tag pull down menu in the compose message windows in the next upgrade.
