I was interested in trying Capital One shopping... but it wants access to all my browsing in Firefox. Is this safe? Do you recommend for, or against this shopping tool?

Are you saying it wants you to log in with your firefox account onto their site? Usually when I get such request I never do that. If you already have a capital one shopping account use that to do your shopping. Anytime you permit them to track your firefox account you gave them permission to track you.
