it's extremely annoying to have to stop what i'm doing and play "lets find the active tab" when i have tons of youtube videos qued in open tabs. in opera, the logic is there out of the box, but in firefox, it doesn't exist. why such logic wouldn't exist is beyond me, but i see this as an annoying problem that needs fixed. i want to simply glance up at the tabs and see which one is playing without having to spend time digging through the open tabs to find the one that's playing or having to freakin memorize which one it was i don't have time for that.

i followed the guide in this thread: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1291998 i did exactly everything as instructed but it did absolutely nothing, no change at all.

The Tab Manager (List all tabs) drop-down list shows in its drop-down list a speaker icon on a tab that play audio content. This is useful when you have a lot of tabs open and the tab may not be in view.

Showing the sound playing icon is affected by the Density settings as selected on the Customize page.

  • in Compact mode you only see the sound playing icon and not the website favicon
  • in Normal mode you see the favicon by default and the sound playing icon on hover
there is a secondary line that shows the 'playing' or 'muted' state since the icon is hidden by default

You can hide the secondary line that shows the Playing and Muted state as text labels by modifying the browser.tabs.secondaryTextUnsupportedLocales pref on the about:config page and add your language to the list. For "en-US" this would be "en" (i.e. the part before a possible '-'):

Hi seikavx, Maybe this extension will help -

Go to Sound Tab https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/go-to-sound-tab/

The Tab Manager button shows a play icon on a tab that plays audio media.

You can set browser.tabs.tabmanager.enabled = true on the about:config page to have the "List all tabs" button permanently visible on the Tab bar. In this case pinned tabs are also included in its list. You can possibly move this button via customize mode.

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.

sorry but that didn't do anything. like nothing changed, nor did the browser become compact, which i wouldn't want anyway.

sorry but that didn't do anything. nothing will work unless i can glance up and see what tab is playing audio just like in opera.

let me reiterate what i want.

i simply want to glance up and see what tab is playing without having to click on anything, at all. that means exactly and simply as it is in opera. i sincerely hope i don't have to stop using firefox due to logic limitations.
