I think I correctly copy the PROFILE folder on my USB transfer device. I think I copied it correctly copied it to the new machine. The 'address', 'deleted', and 'inbox' etc. The files are there on the USB, but they are empty on the new PC. I am doing something wrong I know, but I don't see where. It 'sounds like' you copied the profile piecemeal. Copy the entire folder, and do that when Thunderbird on old PC is NOT running or you will have a corrupted profile. I suggest copying again, just to be sure. Then, in Thunderbird on new PC, select tools>import>Import from another Thundebird installation>choose a profile folder.

Hello David. It turns out that I did the 'transfer" properly. I follow the steps and end up with a profile on my USB that coincides with when I installed Thunderbird. In other words my profile was not populated. Perhaps I am a little thick headed, but I think Mozilla's directions are incorrect. I did not 'go back three levels'. I succeeded when I highlited the whole of the profile folder, copied that and copied it to the new profile. seems to work. Thanks for your support. -leeb
