How do I stop Thunderbird from automatically downloading messages from web server?
My re-installed version of Thunderbird automatically "gets messages" as soon as they are available on my web server.
I would like to download messages only by clicking on "get messages."

Please share your server settings for the account for retrieving messages and advise whether the account is POP or IMAP. Thanks.
I may have fixed it. I unchecked the box for "Allow immediate server notifications when new messages arrive."
I'll confirm when I can.
