no matter which bookmark i click on or url i type, firefox connects to yahoo!search, and even from there i cannot connect to the desired webpage. how can i get yahoo!search permanently disabled?

since this morning [1 may] i cannot connect to any bookmarked or other url [except the firefox homepage?!], because the only connection made is to yahoo!search. and even when yahoo!search displays the search result correctly to the site i want to go on, if i click on that i only get returned to yahoo!search again. since i prefer not to use yahoo!search at all, how can i disable yahoo!search permanently?
