2FA login on sites works with Chromium but NOT WITH Firefox (Linux)

Present setup:

Does NOT work firefox 102.7.0esr on debian 11.6 bullseye 5.10.162-1 (x86-64) firefox 110.0 on Ubuntu MATE 22.04 LTS 5.15.0-58 (x86-64)

Works chromium 109.0.5414.119 on debian 11.6 bullseye 5.10.162-1 (x86-64)

I am able to register and authenticate with security devices Yubikey NEO (without FIDO2) and Yubikey 5 NFC (FIDO2 compliant) on several sites (eg. pypi, google..) using Chrome or Chromium but now not with Firefox at all. It has not worked for at least the last few updates. Changing settings in about:config or plugging/unplugging keys, stopping every Firefox plugin etc. don't help. Neither does a fresh Firefox install without any super-security-settings.

Testing sites like Yubico's own or Okta's works fine using Chromium but not Firefox.

From what I can see this is not especially related to FIDO2 (Webauthn). pypi seems to use U2F which should work just fine with Firefox since way back.

I haven't tested Firefox for Windows but Chrome browser for Windows 10 works fine (which I tested first when Firefox didn't cut the mustard), I therefore expect it to work also on Chrome browser for Linux. Just to check if this was related to a debian bullseye package, I tested it on Ubuntu MATE too, which didn't do the trick. Haven't done any more testing than that on MATE.

This seems like a strictly firefox problem. -What to do?

Yours, Kaare

When trying to open Sharepoint or OneDrive Sites I receive either an 401 Access denied or a: We are sorry, something went wrong.

The issue is actually described in https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1373433 It seems that it broke again now. There are also other people having this problem: https://www.reddit.com/r/sysadmin/comments/11aot6r/firefox_10280esr_seems_to_have_broken/

If I either clear all cache, active logins and cookies or reload with STRG + F5 it will work temporarily. Setting dom.serviceWorkers.navigationPreload.enabled to False fixes it completely.

We are in a global VMWare environment running FF 102.6 ESR. We are experiencing random crashing with Firefox, but only on certain VM's - not everyone experiences this error. My coworker can replicate the issue, but I cannot. We have tried different versions with the same issue - Firefox opens fine, but when additional tabs are opened either by themselves or from links from Outlook or Word or even our CIM software, a Crash reporter box comes up. These VM's are all internal with no Internet access at all, so we had to copy the crash reports to an Internet-connected VM to report them. We have tried disabling SentinelOne, our security software, and tried disabling Appstacks to no avail. These are the latest crash numbers:

bp-e1742c37-69b1-4628-87da-35dd00230216 bp-f3fd3de0-bec4-40a5-90f7-9765a0230216 bp-fa926fc6-5a27-4aa4-80b9-39b680230216 bp-fa96f6d4-5a37-45f8-97a7-1cec20230216 bp-c43b7ed9-4f67-4c20-a56e-cff160230216

These all have the same date and time because we had to transfer all of the pending reports to a working computer and submitted them all at the same time.

Any help would be really appreciated as we are totally stuck at this point. Thank you!

Google offers to use a Google login for many websites in the top-right corner of Firefox, for example, when I start Twitter. I don't remember this behavior more than a few months ago. This is on desktop Firefox, not mobile. I never login to Google unless I want to use Gmail or Blogspot, and then I logoff and kill the browser when done. Can this offer be disabled?

I found this thread, "I cannot open the Duolingo website from my Firefox browser on MAC", here in this forum, which describes the same problemI'm having. That thread was posted about a year ago and is now archived.

For me, the problem is not with MAC but with Windows.

I can reach the login page for duolingo.com using either Firefox or Edge, but after giving my log-in information, the website gets into an endless loading loop when I try to use Firefox. It still loads correctly in Edge and I can use that.

I've been using Duolingo in FF 102.7.0 esr (32-bit) (and all previous esr versions) with no problem until today and I've been using it for years.

I clear the cache every time I close the browser. I cleared it multiple times and rebooted the computer. I tried disabling the ad-blockeer which has never been a problem before. None of these things helped.

Thanks for any thoughts on this.

I use firefox to play music, so I usually have a window in the background while I do other things. When playback starts after a pause, or between songs, the playback window often steals keyboard focus. So if I'm typing in another window, I'm interrupted. Very annoying. It happens on at least youtube, navidrome, and jellyfin.

I've found a few others reporting similar issues that suggest setting `mozilla.widget.raise-on-setfocus` to `false` - but this doesn't work for me. How can I figure out what's triggering this keyboard steal so I can fix it?

I'm using firefox esr 102.7.0esr, but it's been happening for a while. I've tried the debian builds and the official firefox.com builds, same behavior. Thanks for any suggestions.

I already have Firefox version 102.7esr (whatever that means), but one of my online accounts required an upgrade in order to access it. So I installed version 109 last night. It was working fine, I thought, but it won't open this morning. My version 102 is working. Wouldn't 109 automatically replace the older version? Are they competing? How do I get 109 to work again and replace 102?

The above website will display a "No Internet Connection" message every 2-3 hours. When I close Firefox ESR 102.7.0, I get a " Firefox still running message" and when I click on "Stop the process" it closes and Firefox will re-start with internet access, will run for 2-4 hours then happens again. I am running Win 7 Ultimate with all updates on an HP DV-7 laptop with an I-5 processor. Also it seems that the longer Firefox runs the more Processor time it takes. It will start with about 20%, then in an hour or 2 will be at 95%.
