We have several email accounts under different domains that were set up as POP accounts and now all of a sudden they have changed to IMAP. When this happens, it deletes every single email we have and is quite frustrating. Any idea how this happens and how to keep it from happening again?

I am using Thunderbird for a number of accounts. They each have their own SMTP server for outbound. I have a gmail account and when I try to send a message it has another of my addresses on the from line to the right of the address of the account. It must be a return address different.

This happens if I click send mail and then pick the proper personality to send from, and in the dropdown list it is wrong. If I click send mail in the account it works OK.

I have searched and tried to change it to the one for the account, but I just don't see it anywhere on the account to change. What am I missing here?

Hello, my problem with Thunderbird: "Thunderbird does not start (recently) with the Inbox folder" but always in a certain subfolder of "Local Folders" that I created myself. The "Inbox" folder is marked with a checkmark in Favorites folder. I am using an up-to-date Windows 10. Thunderbird is also up-to-date. Who knows a solution? Thanks.

Any suggestions?

It works, but is very slow.

When I reinstall it remembers all my stetting is there a way to do a complete uninstall?

I just purchased a new laptop. I have copied my Address Books and all my Calendars to my new laptop. I was able to point my Thunderbird mail accounts to the mail folders I copied to the new laptop, but I do not see anywhere that I can tell Thunderbird to point the Address Books or the Calendars to a particular folder.

How do I change the default locations for the Address Books and Calendars?

Hello. I have recently been experiencing lots of problems with Thunderbird E-mails. Often I am unable to send any mails at all. Although the in-box seems to work OK. Checked with my ISP yesterday ( Talk Talk ) and was advised they no longer support Tiscali E-mails ! However, that later turned out to be incorrect. Apparently they still support Tiscali - but only for existing telephone and broadband customers like me. However, I am advised to change my account settings from POP 3 to IMAP. ( not quite sure why ! )

If I am to change the settings to IMAP could someone please let me have some simpole and easy-to-follow steps for an " oldie " like me so I don't make any mistakes. Also, please could you confirm that if I make the switch I will still be able to keep my existing tiscali.co.uk E-mail domain name ? I want to retain that E-mail address in any event. Is that possible ?

Finally, I would want to copy a couple of hundred incoming and out-going E-mails to the IMAP account, or, if not possible, then I would need to make a back-up copy of two or three hundred incoming and out-going E-mails which are already on Thunderbird but I don't know how to go about this. Could someone please send me some easy-to-follow instructions,

I have to say that all of this seems very complicated just to change from POP 3 to IMAP in order to keep Talk Talk happy ! I don't use multiple accounts and would prefer to stick with POP 3. Help and advice please on what to do.

i am a long time firefox user and never hat any Problems with it until now. I have a outlook Account and lately thunderbird askes me for a passwort over and over and i typed it in over and over but its still not working. It always says that it couldn´t connect to the server so i went and delete the Account than i added it back in now it tells me my passwort is wrong but i log in to the outlook or microsoft homepage and i can access it just fine. I don´t really know what to do so i appreciate all the help i can get.

The result was that it seems to have overwritten the files on my new computer with all the old info, and newer messages and addresses don't show. Since the last TB update, which was 4 days ago, the credentials to send email for some accounts have vanished from the Passwords list.

That leads to the error in the attached photo. Editing or updating the SMTP settings has no effect.

This is not happening on my email, but a co-workers email.

New emails will not load when TB is started. After much trial and error I figured out that if I got rid of the stored password and then didn't click to remember it, new emails appeared as soon as the password is entered. New emails thereafter will not load until the program is closed and reopened and password is entered once again. Once I click to save password, new emails will not appear, and clicking on "get messages" silently does nothing. Outgoing email asks for password to be entered too, and sure enough it sends as soon as the password is entered.

I have been in contact with the email server and made sure all server info and port #'s are as they should be. We also verified that using the web-portal for the email through a browser works just fine, no issues. Coworker is on an IMAP email server.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Apparently this an issue that has been going on for a few weeks/months but just on his 2 windows computers and 1 Android tablet. Email works fine on iphone as well as the web. Thanks!

Hi. I'm opening .msg files in Thunderbird File -> Open -> Saved Message, or by changing the extension from .msg to .eml, but the message opens showing no attachements. If I open it via outlook or online .msg viewer (I used encryptomatic.com/viewer/), the attachements are there. I've tried looking for some extension that would open it, but to no avail. I use LookOut, but it's mostly for decoding broken attachements from Outlook that you recieve directly.

Hello, a couple of days ago I checked Thunderbird, I sent an email and go away from the computer a couple of hours. Before I left I had the spam folder with emails, when I returned were all gone. The sent emails and incoming mails works and are all there. I can't understand what happened. I didn't receive any spam in a couple of days, and that's kinda strange. I don't want to get important mails in the spam folder and then can't see them. Thank you for understanding and I hope someone has an explanation for that. Eros
