Hello,

I have used Thunderbird for many years.

Currently, I am using version 102.12.0 (64 bit) and my OS is KDEneon 5.27

I have multiple email addresses (using IMAP or POP) which are filed under "Local Folders" ("Dossiers locaux" in french)

A) In the "Folders" view, I would like to be able to have one folder per email address.

B) And, similarly, I would like that for:

"Account Settings" -> [e-mail] -> "Copies & Folders" :

1)  "When sending messages, automatically:" -> "Place a copy in:" -> " "Sent" Folder on:"

2) -> "Message Archives" -> "Keep message archives in:" -> " "Archives" Folder on:"

3) -> "Drafts and Templates" -> "Keep draft message archives in:" -> " "Drafts" Folder on:"

4) -> "Drafts and Templates" -> "Keep message templates archives in:" -> " "Templates" Folder on:"

get a folder named after the email address, not in "Local Folders" as is currently the case.

I did see the following help articles:

But that's not what I want.

If I have an email address using the POP protocol, I want to keep it in POP, but having its own folder in the "Folders" view

In the same vein, if I have an email address using the IMAP protocol, I want to keep it in IMAP, but having its own folder in the "Folders" view.

Anyway, for my addresses using the POP protocol, I often have many more emails than my supplier agrees to store on his server.

In short, if you have a solution, it will be great.

Thank you in advance.

Good day to you all.

I'm using Thunderbird 114.0b6 (64-bit). I sort and group by date. In the previous version of Thunderbird the default view of collapsed view remained after changing folders. It no longer stays collapsed. When I collapse the views in the Inbox, switch to another folder, then switch back, the view is expanded again. How do I keep the view from expanding keeping views in collapsed mode; keeping it collapsed every time I switch to another folder and return.

My main email account is with my internet provider and the storage available is unlimited. I have three other accounts with external hosts whose storage capacity is limited. Each email account is for a specific purpose. I am using IMAP setting for all email accounts. What I hoped I could do is set up folders in Local folders for each of the limited storage capacity accounts to direct the emails I want to save using the Message Filters. Not only did it not work, it wiped out the message filters that had been working well for me for ages. My message filter page is completely blank.

Being somewhat non-literal, I only recently learned that Local Folders really did mean folders on my hard drive. So wondering what else I don't know, what happens to the emails I archive. Are the emails still on the mail server? Or are archives on my hard drive? If the archives are on my hard drive and not on the remote mail server drive, are the emails there permanently - i.e., they're there until I delete them, or until something goes wrong with my hard drive? (Why would anyone think that might happen?)

If the archives are no longer at the mail server, but are on my hard drive - that would seem to solve my problem. I thought of the idea of moving emails to the Local Folders because I thought that archiving did not take the emails off the mail server.

If someone can make sense of all this so I don't stress myself out over what can go where, I will greatly appreciate it. :-}

I have just read that TB's policy is to delete messages in the trash after a certain amount of time.

I'm not sure what policy they follow for this, as the Activity Manager says "Deleted 1 message fom Trash", but does not let you know what msge was deleted. When I look at my trash, I can see I have things from YEARS ago, so I'm wondering what they follow to have things deleted.

However, in the end, I don't really like that TB deletes things even in my trash. I get this is to save space, but I personally do not care about space, and I use my emails like a database where I have saved myself from looking back into my trash and remembering something I failed to do for instance. Or even something I accidentally deleted and found it again.

Anyway, The fact that there is a setting in Account Settings -> Synchronization & Storage -> Do not delete any messages and TB still deletes the trash it its own discretion sucks.

I love TB and want to use it forever. Is there a place I can voice this to them and ask they provide an options to not deleted anything on any folders. Or maybe prompt to delete something first, show us what that email is.

I get I can create another folder, but I'm much happier just hitting the delete button, but know that this email will linger somewhere in another folder...

Thanks for reading

Hello, I am a current user that is pretty familiar with Thunderbird and how it had worked with previous versions. I had just installed 102.11.2 to a new computer and have been able to customize mostly - but still am not able to remove threads like previous versions.

There is a view/unview, thread option - but it does not remove the actual threading into multiple messages.

Any suggestions?

thanks!

(After the hacker attack we had to restore the encrypted mail from an older backup) The IMAP profile has been restored from backup, msgFilterRules.dat set as before backup, but incoming mail subject to filters remains in INBOX. But when manually running any filter, it moves particular message to the target folder. I've searched dozen of messages at support.mozilla.org for relevant topics, but my problem is not described.

The pattern of the rule that does not work: name="[rule name]" enabled="yes" type="17" action="Move to folder" actionValue="imap://account.name@mail.domain.cz/INBOX/existing destination folder" condition="AND (all addresses,contains,name@domain.cz) AND (all addresses, doesn't contain,my.name)"

All my colleagues on the same domain, with IMAP accounts, have this problem. TB 102.11.2 (64-bit) WIN 10

Is there any help? Thanks for the advice.

My email inbox was always sorted by star and then date, with all my starred emails first at the top followed by newest emails second at the top. I have just switched to Thunderbird Beta v114 with the unified inbox folder for all my email accounts and cannot get the inbox to sort this way. I can have the newest emails at the top without the starred emails, but as soon as I put the starred emails at the top all the other emails are sorted in reverse, that is, oldest at the top. I can get the exact opposite of the arrangement I want by putting the starred emails at the foot and then the newest emails, so the oldest emails are at the top. I cannot find any way to reproduce the sort order I always used before moving to v.114.

I am currently using Thundrbird 102.10.1 (64-bit).

For years I had Thunderbird set up to open the way I want it to: fullscreen, classic view but without the Tasks/Events pane (which I never use), and with the folders pane at a width that I had set to view all the folder names for each email account.

Something changed a few months ago. I don't know if it was concurrent with an update, but now when TB opens it still shows the classic view but not fullscreen, WITH the Tasks/Events pane and with the folders pane width smaller that I had set it to.

How can I make TB display the way I want it to instead of what it thinks I want?

Can anyone help? TIA
