Hi, I've updated Thunderbrid to 102.5 and Quick Text has disappeared and looks like it's no longer compatible. It's something I use all the time. If it's not available as there any other ad-ons that are similar? Can I go back to the previous version as I had a lot of templates set up in it that I would like to access and save? Thanks

The attached image shows how my email list pane looks like. I would like to change the color of the whole unread line, to be the same color as the Read column (the green dot).

I tried the following after reading some thread of older versions of thunderbird, to no avail:

Changed toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets to true Created a file name userChrome.css in %APPDATA%\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\t6yl6i44.default\chrome

Had this in its content:

  1. threadTree > treechildren {
 color: green !important;}

Is it possible to do what I want? Thanks

I'm using Thunderbird 108.0b1 on Kubuntu 18.04 (but that's not the issue, just for info)

I need to change email supplier and I've asked the first chosen (iDENT.com) if their POP3 Email server supports the Thunderbird feature I use to control whether of not using POP3 deletion of emails from the POP3 server can be controlled; their answer was no. I think this is incorrect since I understand with POP3 this is controlled by the email client, eg Thunderbird.

I know this capability is also available on Gmail which I use on my Android phone, there I set the Gmail client to not delete the emails on their server. On opening the Gmail client the emails are left on the server so that later using Thunderbird on my main Kubuntu computer I can download and file them on my machine (which is regularly backed up).

My question is: am I right and whether or not under POP3 emails can left on, or deleted from the server, can be controlled by the client and therefore their POP3 server can so be controlled?

Using Thunderbird 102.4.2 under Linux Mint 20, Cinnamon 4.6.7

I am replying to a long email, and wish to insert my comments at various points in the reply. If I select a color and font size for the first insertion, Thunderbird reverts to its own idea of color and font size when I begin the next insertion as part of my reply. Is there a way to change the default so that I don't have to edit each of my insertions individually?

Hi There! Can anyone please help? Been using Thunderbird for years and I've suddenly got a problem with how some Message are displayed. I have made sure "Threading" is not selected as I thought that may be the cause. But it seems to be different. I'm using T/B Ver 102.2.2 (64-bit) if that helps.

From the attached, all e-mails are displaying correct date/time order. Except one or 2 aren't!!! So, the one shown was replied to by them today and yet it shows up in the correct location but with the date/time of the original message (18/11/2022) and not today 21/11/2022 when it arrived. You can also see how they appear on the "read" window rather than the usual "earliest at the bottom" flowing style it's "sectioned". You can also see an e-mail which arrived today but it displays the date/time of the original message (15/09/2022) but is positioned correctly for when it arrived today (21/11/2022). Also, not all e-mails are doing this and it has just started.

Any clues as I've spent a while Googling and searching the T/B "Help" pages but can't see the problem reported anywhere. Thanks in advance for your help! Cheers, Chris

Yesterday I removed hundreds of duplicate messages from 3 of my IMAP accounts with a lot of effort, partly facilitated by the "Remove Duplicate Messages" add-in. But still I went through all the messages in order to make sure that the right ones were removed. Anyway, now I just reopened Thunderbird, and now it is re-downloading all those messages. Why? I would have expected the deleted messaages to also have been synced back to the IMAP server. Normally it will do that if I delete single messages or mark them as read. The status will be the samer on the server. Did I somehow not wait long enough before closing TB? But it was idle and not ovbiously doing anything. Is there a way to enforce folder sync for many folders in an IMAP account? I want to be sure that this does not end up like "Groundhog Day" every time I clean up my duplicate messages. (The duplicated exist for historical reasons when I was always BCC-ing myself in times of POP3, so I can also see my sent messages, no matter which device or client I used to write them.)

I have only recently started using Thunderbird and am trying to get used to how it works. One of the most annoying aspects is the notification sound when an email arrives. I don't have an issue with the notification, just the sound, as it is intrusive on Zoom meetings, etc.

I have searched around the forum for the answer and have found similar questions which direct the individual to the menu option or Tools menu, and then "options". Unfortunately, I don't an options selection in either location.

Please help!

I did right-click on Inbox for Unified; but the Properties box that opens does not allow me to select which folders to show (unlike the Thunderbird on my older computer which does that). How do I get the Unified Inbox to show all Inbox messages?

Hi, I'm writing an OS extension (in Gnome) to display an icon whenever there are unread or new messages.

Getting the number of unread messages is straightforward, I just have to count the number of "X-Mozilla-Status: 0000" in the Inbox files.

But is there a similar way to get the number of new messages ?

According to https://vincent.bernat.ch/en/x-mozilla-status, there's "X-Mozilla-Status2", which should be "00010000" for new messages. But all my messages, including the new ones, have "00000000".

Hello.

I am very happy with Thunderbird and would prefer not to switch to another program.

I just got myself a new computer and then this problem occurred... The threads come up in my emails and I do NOT want that to happen. It makes the overview of the emails unclear and very confusing. And I do not see clearly if I have read them or not.

I have searched and searched a lot online to find out... but have not succeeded. (my son also tried..)

So I am wondering how I can have the emails coming up one by one (like before), without having the threads..?

The screenshot shows how the email come up for me in Thunderbird, I would like them to come "one by one" without the threads..

Would appreciate your reply!

Running version 102.4.2 (32-bit).

Is there a way or an add-on / extension that would allow me to highlight words or sections of received emails? Not outgoing, don't really care about those; just the already received ones? I work with a lot of Zoom meetings across time zones, and flub meeting times occasionally; I'd like to be able to highlight (or even just bold/italicize) a time or sentence in a received email to make it less likely that I'll get the time wrong. Thanks!

Hi there. First, thanks for your time. Next, I'm a newbie with Thunderbird (and a bit of an IT weakling). Have gradually been setting it up to work for me. I have multiple email addresses, folders and subfolders. About half my emails have attachments. I've managed to backup the Profile info by exporting a copy of the folder onto an external HDD. Now I want to backup all my emails including folders, subfolders and attachments. I have managed to download ImportExportToolsNG as an add-on. 1. I've read somewhere that ImportExport doesn't export attachments? 2. Which is the best ImportExport option for me to use? I don't understand the difference between the different options in the menu (eg, Export All Folders, vs Export All Folders with Structure, vs Backup). I've read somewhere that some of these options don't link attachments to their emails or don't copy the full email message - as you can see I don't really understand what I'm reading. I would like to be able to double check what I have in the exported copied folders. And I want to be able to restore all emails, their attachments and settings if my Thunderbird crashes. 3. I do use Acronis True Image 2016 to backup my PC onto external HDD but I don't know how to check and see if my emails are on there. If they are, will I be able to restore my Thunderbird emails and settings if for some reason they crash? TIA.

I happen to be a poor typist and have had to disable a lot of keystroke-combinations in my ~/.vimrc because of this. There's some combination that causes my "compose" window to disappear (likely ctrl+shift+return, from looking at related posts). At least the partial-message shows up in the Outbox folder where I can resurrect it. It took me awhile to figure this out, I had been re-entering the messages. Is there some way for me to disable this "feature", though? I have absolutely no use for it. This is with thunderbird 102.4.1 (64-bit). It doesn't look like I have an explicit "Send later" extension enabled.

Is there any way to achieve the above? Maybe with a plugin of some sort? Thanks!

Explanation (if you had any questions why this feature would be needed at all): This is a great way of sorting/viewing your emails by people rather than individual emails, while also maintaining the sorting of emails by date:

- it shows whom you received an email last, thereby allowing it to be your default view,
- keeps your inbox clean and neat, automatically,
- makes it easy to see what is important and what is not,
- implements better threading (because threads based on subject lines fall apart very quickly),
- separates commercial emails from emails from friends and family without filters, and
- allows for very quick cleaning and organizing of emails, if you wanted to put them in folders or delete them.

Some email clients implemented such feature in the past, sadly they are no longer available, not available for Linux, or no longer supported (Poco Mail for Windows, or Unibox for Mac, for example).

Thunderbird is the most full-featured email client today, with many plugins available, and I was hoping there was a way to do this, but if it exists, I did not find it myself.

I have several filters set up to automatically organise certain automatic emails which I do not need to read, but do need to save, into folders. The filters are set to be active when 'Getting New Mail', however they are not acting as I'd expect.

When I receive new mail, and it downloads mails which should be filtered, they appear in my inbox - they are not filtered. If I press 'Get messages' then the filters are applied and the emails are moved from the inbox to the various folders. If I don;t press 'Get Messages' then they sit in my inbox, clogging it up with spam. But this isn't really applying the filters upon 'Getting New Mail', it's actually more like manually applying the filters, because I have to hit the 'Get Messages' button for the filter to apply, or wait for the next scheduled time that mails are downloaded from the server.

Is there a way to get the filters to be applied immediately that they are downloaded, triggered automatically by them being downloaded in the first instance.

As an aside, I know that filters can be run on a scheduled task every 10 minutes, but that's not a good workaround in my circumstances.
