After updating from TB 102.7.0 to TB 102.9.0 on my Mac OS 10.15.7, I cannot send mail on one of my mail accounts and getting the following message: "Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtphm.sympatico.ca was lost in the middle of the transaction." With the previous versions of TB, I did not have any issue with this problem. The settings of this SMTP server is: Port 587, Connection Security SSL/TLS, Authentication method = Normal password. These settings worked perfectly in the previous version of TB! Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hello,

I'm using Tbird 102.9.0 on Linux Mint v20. After a few days of running I cannot move messages from the inbox to any other folder. Closing Tbird and re-opening does not work. I tried RMB-Move To, file menu Message-Move To, and drag-n-drop, none of those works.

After a few tries to move messages from the inbox to other folders fails, I can no longer delete messages from the inbox, and the message view pane does not update when I click on a different message in the inbox. If I close Tbird and re-open, these functions work again.

Note, I updated the subject after I discovered it seems to be just one folder that I cannot move new message into. Also, using a menu "Move To" function to try to move messages into this folder locks up my inbox. Drag-n-drop doesn't work either, but it doesn't lock-up my inbox.

Hi I have multiple email accounts setup in Thunderbird. My problem is that when I receive an email addressed to more than one of my accounts, if I reply using the reply button in the email preview pane, it sometimes using a different From account in the reply than the one I am replying from BUT does not happen if I use the Reply in the right-click context menu or the Message->Reply option. So I setup identities on each account and selected the "reply from this identity" and typed in the that profile email address to try and fix it. The problem still occurs when using the button in the preview pane BUT does not happen if I use the Reply in the right-click context menu or the Message->Reply option. Why is that and how can it be fixed? Can I remove the reply option in the preview pane somehow? I think this problem might be new as I have not seen this behaviour before and have always used . It appears that it chooses the first of my accounts listed in the recipient list of the email to place in the From field. Again this does not occur on any other Reply option I tried.

Im new to Thunderbird as migrating from Outlook 2019. Using Tools->Import->From Ouytlook and choosing just Mail Click Import and Windows Defender pops up everytim I try stating Trojan:Win32/Vigorf.A

When I asked WD for more info it tell me its this file: file: C:\Users\wayne-local\AppData\Local\Temp\mapiattach.tmp

I delete the file and try again and the file is recreated by Thunderbird, so is it Safe to allow the file? The Import does nothing at point Windows Defender blocks this file?

I receive them ok, so the incoming settings are good, but can't work out the outgoing settings - see settings below. My ISP is Talktalk.net. Thunderbird thinks it has an invalid filter to a folder that does not exist. No, I do not have a folder "Junk-1" No, I do not have a filter that references "Junk-1" No, the file "msgFilterRules.dat" for this account does not have a reference to "Junk-1" Yes, this happens EVERY, SINGLE, TIME, Thunderbird is opened. Yes, this happens with 102.9.1 (32-bit) as it has for the last couple of years. Suggestion, since Thunderbird can not show the filter that does not exist, maybe it could DELETE the filter from where ever it a hallucinating it and move on.

Hi, I upgraded from 102.6.1 to 102.9.1 on windows 11 and now my imap connection fails to outlook.office365.com. It asks for a username/password and uses the authentication method OAuth2 as before. Still, after authentication, through the authenticator, I am getting this message that authentication failed because the application is not allowed by administrator. But nothing changed at the backend! So I installed 102.6.1 again and all is fine. Any ideas?

USING 102.9.1 ON MAC Some recurring events will not allow deletion and there's no help file built in. These events give a right click view as shown in attached screen grab – no edit or delete actionable. How can I get rid of these which I suspect come from another calendar I am not using? I can’t find any basic sync command in settings to turn them off. I am a very basic user ie personal emails, web browsing and documents, and don’t understand computer jargon. I tried using convert but that just seems to multiply more events which are not deletable!

Just wanted to put this out there in case others had the problem:

After deleting then re-installing Thunderbird on my windows 10 PC last week I was able to receive but not send messages.

I spent hours pulling my hair out, trying various solutions that I found posted online but none solved my problem.

It was ultimately solved by deleting then re-installing the authenticator application on my iphone then manually configuring my account authentication to OAuth2.

Unsure why, but initially setting the OAuth2 authentication didn't work. Deleting then re-installing the authenticator app on my iphone is what fixed this!

Computers Aaargh!!!

My husband sent his laptop back to the vendor to be repaired. It was returned to him fixed, and he can access all his items, EXCEPT, his Thunderbird email is asking for his password. If he cannot recall what it is, is there a way to recover it? He has access to his email via our Internet Service Provider by logging onto their website. Is it possible for Mozilla Thunderbird to send him a reset password email he can access that way? HELP!
