How can I delete a second email account folder that duplicates data in 1st folder? Folder names are as follows: prentissr@ example.net prentissR@ example.net

Hi, my email hosting company is retiring emails from the provider they took over from and I now have to buy a different service from my hosting company. The email address will remain the same though. The hosting company is saying that I need to add a new account, but to check in with Thunderbird to make sure that I won't lose the emails from the previous provider within the Thunderbird email client (depending on how things are set up). Please can you advise how I can best avoid email loss? Many thanks. Regards, Jason

Hi - I'd like to turn off compacting for gmail accounts. It seems it often collides with whatever google is doing on their end, and it fails and asks to repeat. My other email is through privateemail.com and seems to work ok. Can this be done on an account basis? All are IMAP.

I'm a funds contributor, I really love and believe in your product, looking forward to new releases that hopefully have things like centralized configuration/spam filter/email filters.

As a user of TB almost from the beginning, I am now embarrassed to say that my last computer, a MacBook, has been dying, and I didn’t really think or know how to back up my TB. In any case my back up machine fell and got broken and can’t be copied except for $1,500+ !! I have a second hand MacAir coming in two days. I want to be able to get all my TB program onto this MacAir. I still am a volunteer for a 13 year old charity scholarship program in Haiti and although I’m 85, I still have lots of work to do on computer—mainly news letters, and advertising for fundraising. So, if you can help me, I will be most pleased. I did find the YouTube coverage of how to transfer TB from one machine to another. A pro Mac company is going to help me rescue my TB from my dying MacBook and I want to give him all the help he can use. Oh and somehow I never saved my password for Thunderbird, my computer had it saved so I was able to use it. But now, not sure whether my TB on my old MacBook will also have the password saved.????? I'm using Thunderbird 114.0b6 (64-bit). I sort and group by date. In the previous version of Thunderbird the default view of collapsed view remained after changing folders. It no longer stays collapsed. When I collapse the views in the Inbox, switch to another folder, then switch back, the view is expanded again. How do I keep the view from expanding keeping views in collapsed mode; keeping it collapsed every time I switch to another folder and return.

Since a few years back my Lightning calendar lost all the color backgrounds for categories, which was a plugin that does not work anymore. The small sliver of a color bar on the right side of the event on the calendar page is not helpful to see in a glance what category is coming up in a few days. I have several job categories such as Photography, Video Recording and Audio Job. If I can color code AND SEE them at a glance when I am in the month view is a great help. I am not sure what purpose it serves to have a thin slice of color on the right side of the event! If the whole background of the event line has that color it will serve some purpose. I researched and tried all the css hacks and config edits but nothing seems to work. Is there any help that we can get? I see that others are also looking for a solution that works in the latest version. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I use Thunderbird mail for Godaddy hosted domain with workspace mail. I've been using it for years with no problem. I have not changed my password. Yesterday, I could no longer receive or send email because my password cannot be authenticated. My login to pop.secureserver.net keeps failing. My Thunderbird is up to date.

I have just read that TB's policy is to delete messages in the trash after a certain amount of time.

I'm not sure what policy they follow for this, as the Activity Manager says "Deleted 1 message fom Trash", but does not let you know what msge was deleted. When I look at my trash, I can see I have things from YEARS ago, so I'm wondering what they follow to have things deleted.

However, in the end, I don't really like that TB deletes things even in my trash. I get this is to save space, but I personally do not care about space, and I use my emails like a database where I have saved myself from looking back into my trash and remembering something I failed to do for instance. Or even something I accidentally deleted and found it again.

Anyway, The fact that there is a setting in Account Settings -> Synchronization & Storage -> Do not delete any messages and TB still deletes the trash it its own discretion sucks.

I love TB and want to use it forever. Is there a place I can voice this to them and ask they provide an options to not deleted anything on any folders. Or maybe prompt to delete something first, show us what that email is.

I get I can create another folder, but I'm much happier just hitting the delete button, but know that this email will linger somewhere in another folder...

I have not received emails addressed to the three accounts we originally set up years ago. The only email that has come through is one from xfinity which uses the xfinity account name. I logged onto xfinity and no new messages are residing there. I've downloaded a couple of the Mozilla help articles but don't seem to be getting anywhere.

I just imported my Google Contacts into Thunderbird (102.11.2) Address book. I verified that entries contain a first name, last name, and one or more email addresses. Yet when I try to address an email within Thunderbird WRITE dialog by entering a few letters in the 'TO' field, all that shows up are email addresses that match....no names. In other words, if I type 'John Jones', only email addresses that happen to have those letters appear; not the entry for John Jones that contains his email address.

Do I not have some setting set correctly, or is this a limitation that matching only occurs within the email address itself (which i hope is not the case).

I am using Thunderbird 112.11.2 version with Win 11. How do I send/forward an email to multiple addressees. The addressees are in my Address Book. I referenced your support instructions and it instruct me how to send/forward emails to a single addresse by typing in the address but does not how to use my Address Book.

when i get a new email it triggers the generic notification event and not the new mail event so if i want to get a quack when i get a new email i have to get a quack for all generic notifications using the system notifications. Now if i use the thunderbird notifications(which i actually like better) i can change the sound and all but i get the notification when playing video and games, even in game mode.....it blocks the system notifications.

BTW loving the new beta thunderbird right now especially the card view for messages

Hi folks!

I had to configure a new email which I run from the Thunderbird platform. I backed up a year's worth of emails in a ZIP file before deleting the old email (apparently I had to) and I have followed the instructions to import the old emails. The imported file appears in my 'local folders' section in Thunderbird but these files appear to be empty. I cannot find information or previous questions addressing this issue so I would appreciate any suggestions. The ZIP folder is smaller than 2GB.
