After quitting a company, in Thunderbird I removed the related IMAP account I had for it on my home desktop (Office365 account) with the "remove account" action.

Yet the associated folder named "outlook.office365.com " within "ImapMail" is still there. How can I remove that too? I can reuse the 16GB it takes.

Thanks, George

HI,

I have a Gmail account that I use to make sure I can see my meetings from anywhere. The Home (default) calendar is useless if I am not at my desk.

My Setup:

  • TB 91.3.2
  • Using integrated Google calendar (not Lightning extension)
  • I have 5 calendars
 * Home (default)
 * Business Gmail calendar
 * Personal Gmail calendar
 * Client 1 calendar (read-only)
 * Client 2 calendar (read-only)
  • I have multiple accounts
 * My default business account
 * My Gmail business account
 * My Gmail personal account

My desire: When I get an invite to my default business account, I would like to add the Gmail business calendar.

What I do now: When I get a new invite, I accept it into the Home calendar, then I make a copy and store it in the Google Business calendar. It gets messy very quickly...

Today, I received an invite, and when I accepted it, TB asked whether I wanted to import it in my Home calendar, Client 1 calendar (!) or Client 2 calendar (!!). I don't have the rights to update those calendars... but I do have the right to update my Google calendars.

How to I get TB to use my Gmail calendars when accepting meeting invites? Ideally, I would like to delete the Home calendar completely since it really serves no purpose other than being a placeholder because I can't save directly to my Google calendar.

Thanks,

L

I am downloading my Gmail through POP3 in Thunderbird. I keep running into the issue where I'm not getting all of my e-mails downloading. Most of the time, it's statements from banks or credit card companies or notification of payments. I know that I can right-click the folder in the Folder Pane, Properties, Repair Folder, to force a download of all messages on the mail server, but I don't understand WHY they're getting stuck and not downloading or how to fix this permanently. I am missing e-mails I really need in a timely fashion. Thanks so much!

Hello!

Would much appreciate info on how to fix a problem that appeared today. All incoming emails wind up in sub-folder All mails, instead of arriving in Inbox as usual. Also, two dozen emails that came in today got transferred to the All mails folder. These emails are not duplicated in any other folder. I may have pressed a wrong key on my keyboard without wanting to.

Updates: Right-clicked Inbox and pressed Repair button. All mails vanished for 1-2 seconds, then reappeared, ordered as before. Incoming emails, including a test mail I sent from my other email address to my TB, now arrive in Inbox and sub-folders All mails and Important. When erasing a mail in Inbox, I erase it from All mails and Important simultaneously. Now my TB seems to function as before. Included the above updates in case they are informative.

Many thanks in advance for all help!

I've looked at previous answers, and I'm puzzled because they all boil down to go to Options/Preferences/General/Advanced. Except I have no "Advanced" available (91.3.2)! There are no options I can find that go to a menu resembling that fork. Nothing about file handling, link handling, nada.

Is there yet another workaround for what seems to be a basic functionality?

Thanks.

Hi all. Happy healthy holidays. New Dell Inspiron 16 Plus, windows 11. I have been trying to do the simple thing...we all know how...but it ain't working. Move my Gmail address book...export to New Dell laptop. Can get as far as hitting EXPORT...then IMPORT and dead in the water: Google>Contacts>Export>Export Outlook CSV (other choices are Google CSV and vCard for IOS contacts) >Export which then puts up a screen notification "Exporting". Here comes the stupid part: "YOU HAVE CHOSEN TO OPEN contacts.csv What should Firefox (my browser) do with this file open with (choose file) Excel (default) save file So I choose "save file". >enter name of file to save to, and I open "contacts", save file as ALL FILES Next I open Thunderbird. Tools>Import>menu of material to import and I chose IMPORT EVERYTHING to which a note opens "No application to import date from found". Grrrrr... Help? This was always so easy....thanks folks! Lars

Thunderbird updated overnight and now crashes on startup. Holding shift key gives safe mode start up options for a split second and then they disappear before I get a chance to select anything.

Clicking re start thunderbird sometimes opens the main email client for a split second before crashing. Running win10 in safe mode makes no difference. Would it be as simple as me just uninstalling the current version of thunderbird and reinstalling an older version? Will all my accounts and profiles be OK?

This is a pretty big problem for me as I have a ton of email going back years.

NOTE: I just downloaded and installed an earlier version via the link below and fixed the problem https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/91.3.1/win64/en-US/

Here is the crash detail.

Thunderbird has stopped pulling my email from the two accounts I have setup, each on a different domain/mail server and hosted by two different web hosts. I get the "Add Security Exception" for both email accounts. I have made no changes to either account in recent months, and no changes to Thunderbird, other than to installed the recommended updates. Both accounts were affected at the same time. No antivirus apps installed... only the native Windows Defender. Why is this happening, and how do I fix it? Of course, I can always just go for the security exception. But, I don't think that's the way it should work. I don't believe the SSL certificates would have expired on both domains at the same time. They are unrelated. Any help appreciated.

I have TB on my Windows 7 computer. It is 32-bit and the version number is 91.3.2. I use several email addresses in TB and have had no problems downloading or writing emails using any of the addresses. Two of those addresses are gmail addresses.

I installed TB on my new Windows 10 computer. I migrated my Thunderbird folder from the Windows 7 computer to the Windows 10 computer. I can see all my email associated with each email address.

When I try to download new mail from my two gmail accounts, I get the error shown in the attached jpg. I get a similar error if I try to send an e-mail from those 2 gmail accounts.

I've compared the setting in TB on both computers for the 2 gmail accounts. As far as I can tell, Both computers show the same settings. Both TB installations (old and new computers) are versions 91.3.2. The only difference I see is TB on the old computer is 32-bit and on the new computer it is 64-bit. What do I need to do so I can download and send email using my gmail accounts in TB on my new computer?

I was thinking maybe if I use 32-bit TB on my new computer my problem would go away. I thought I would ask here before I try that.

Thanks - (I'm beginning to hate computers. What's worse is I manage a large Oracle database for a living)

hello. i have read a few articles on how to do this but some are a bit complicated and or don,t work. i have fire fox which i absolutely love (just miss not being able to cast) my wife has Thunderbird,we have made a few donations to help out. i use outlook in office because i had a business and it had a lot more going for it then Thunderbird (sorry) .

anyway to the question is there a straight way of relocating the profile folder for Thunderbird on an external drive so if i format drive c: or get another MB or Drive it will be on this back up drive?

In office i just have to find the PST file then relocate it then go into options and accounts and add it to the system and then make it the default delivery file so i am not worried about drive c: at all, so i wish to move the Thunderbird profile folder to the new drive which i have done then i open Thunderbird open tools/server account and do the stuff other people suggested, open the profile folder box, get the location,close down Thunderbird, go up to the roaming tab click on that it opens and then i paste the folder i copied, close everything down then restart Thunderbird but it always seems to open a new profile with new numbers back in the original place under user/appdata/thunderbird/profiles etc.

i have no old mail showing so i close everything down and reverse the process and it all works fine again but i'm still on drive c:. Please note this external drive DOES not have Thunderbird on it i just want to use this drive as a back-up but were my mail will continually be placed. i hope you can understand what i am trying to achieve. Cheers Garry
