I know that there are a lot of posts on this subject but none of the "solutions" will work for me or seem to be very specific. I have Thunderbird version 91.5.0 on Ubuntu 18.04.6 LTS and I am trying to set up a gmail account and I get stuck in the authentication loop, I am using Oauth2 with all the standard settings. I confirm it on my phone (2 factor authentication) then I get the dreaded error after this clicking on the Done button starts the loop off again. I have Thunderbid for this account setup on a windows 10 and windows 11 machines both on 91.5.0 and I have no problems but the Linux version does not work at all, google seems happy with the authentication, I get no errors etc. Any help appreciated. Thanks

Seems that I had automatic updates for thunderbird and I'm now at version 91.5.0. I'm using 29~20.04.1-Ubuntu if that matters. I instantly regret the update, it seems that some new emails dissipated, filters are working sporadically and so on. How can I get back to my previous thunderbird version and how can I disable automatic updates?

I use one account on several machines, one machine = one user. To sort the answers, we need to know from which machine the e-mail was sent, when the recipient replied. For example info@domain.com - machine 1. We used Bat before, where the reply address was set as "info@domain.com - machine 1" but on Thunderbird is this address this doesn't work.

Multiple problems after Thunderbird update. On two separate computers, mine and my wife's. Ubuntu 20.04 LTS desktop, Ubuntu updated Thunderbird last night to 91.5.0 (64bit). Consulting dpkg.log shows the previous version installed was 78.14. These are distributed by Canonical.

One of my accounts and all it's folders and sub-folders disappeared. Same on the second computer with many more folders in the deleted/missing account.

My filter entry to move some incoming messages from extant account to the disappeared account now unchecked. Have not checked other computer, but expect same behavior.

Many messges to one of my local folders sent to spam. Also new incoming to my one "good" account going to spam.

First, what happened with the new release?

Second, any chance to recover? There are backups of the .thunderbird files

I may have asked this question before, but I an running on my new mac mini M1, and I cannot find the original question online, so here goes (again): I am in the process of manually migrating from a 2018 mac mini to the 2021 Mac Mini M1. Because I didn't want to possibly infect the new computer with minor issues I was having with the old computer, I figured it would be pretty easy to do the migration as I am not an "app heavy" user.

Before attmepting to migrate my Thunderbird Profiles, I went online and read a bunch of articles and watched quite a few movies on how to isolate the "Profiles" folder in the library (click on GO and option at the same time to click on Library, and then Thunderbird) to find the profiles folder, to copy it, and to place it on a removable hard drive to be transferred to the new mac and it's fresh Thunderbird install. Information noted, and I copied the profiles folder with just 2 files in it: 02estxxx.rick and 4omw47xx.default from the old computer.

On the new computer I did the fresh install of the Thunderbird program, then after opening the program and closing it, I went to the Applications/Thunderbird/Libraries/Profiles on the new computer and one many of my several attempts to transfer the profiles I did both: a. Open the profiles folder and delete the original profiles folders and replaced them with the profiles folders from the original computer (on one attempt) AND on another attempt, replaced the WHOLE profiles folder on the new computer with the original profiles folder from the original mac mini. In both instances it was a no go and I neither got my old emails nor my address book from the old computer. What I ended up doing (was to open Thunderbird) and Manually populate the IMAP settings on each of my email accounts to get them to show up, but what I didn't get was my contact emails. So now when I try to send someone an email, I type in their name in the To: part of the email and it doesn't populate with their email. Now I have to go to an old conversation in one of my own folders to copy their email address from there to put in the to: field. I hope I am describing this accurately. I'm not a computer guy and I have spent more hours on trying to figure this thing out than I care to admit. I sure would like to have some suggestions spelled out in an easy format so I can figure out how to manually migrate my address book from the old Thunderbird program to this new Thunderbird program. Attached is a photo of my Library\Thunderbird\Profiles folder on my new computer after I added both of the old files from the old computer to the files IN the new computer, if that helps.

I don't know what happened. I was looking at all the settings, to see why messages I deleted from the server (from my phone) were still coming to Thunderbird. (OK, so that's a different problem). I must have changed something, and now my emails stopped coming into my Local Folders - Inbox. They are now coming into a new Inbox which appears directly under the account, pop.verizon.net.

To see what was happening, I went into Server Settings - Message Storage - Advanced then I try to change it to Inbox for Local Folders, but it asks me ominously if I want to "Defer Account?" so I'm afraid to say yes.

How do I get everything back in the Local Folders?

Thank you for any insight!

Because GoDaddy is using Microsoft now, my mail account is switching to IMAP. I was hoping this would be as simple is changing a server setting on my existing account, but no.

After creating a new account in the past with POP, all I had to do is dive into the Library directory and copy all of the files and folders from the old account to the new. Worked perfectly.

This is not working. I quit Thunderbird, copy the files, fire up the program and the IMAP account is back like it was.

One of your support articles stated that you can drag and drop folders from one account to the other in the program, but that isn't working.

How do I accomplish this?

I'm using version 91.5.0

Hello!

I have some old Gmail accounts I don't use anymore and just want the old emails on them stored locally so I don't have to go back to them again.

If I can get all of those emails into a mbox format. Is there a way to use Thunderbird strictly as an offline old email reader? Everytime I start it, it ask for me to enter an account and I'm not sure how to get around that ?

I was running 91.4, automatic update told me it failed and I should download and install 91.5 manually. So I did. 91.5 became a new install and didn't pick up any data & settings from 91.4, which was still there. I uninstalled 91.5 and it deleted all my 91.4 data & settings, so 91.4 was now a new installation. I uninstalled 91.4, installed 91.5 and restored an old profile (yes I should backup profiles more often!) The big legacy is that I can't click on a file in File Explorer and share it by email. 'No associated program' is the message. (Thunderbird is my default email client). I read that File Explorer can only do this operation with 32 bit apps. Outlook users are being advised to downgrade their 64 bit app back to 32. Certainly I have a 91.5 64bit install (I don't recall what 91.4 was). Can I downgrade? Is 91.5 available in 32 bit?

The error appears in English. I don't know if the English translation is exact.

The unified folders look like in the attached image.
