When i select multiple files (pdf for example) and try to send them by using Right-click on files --> Send To --> Thunderbird, it only attach one file.


Is this normal or is something not right with my software?

There are some messages that I want TB to reopen on startup, in tabs that were open when I closed TB. Until the latest update, it did this, now it always forgets them.

I found an answer in archived question "Email account stuck on Drafts and can't get to Inbox etx" https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1280765#question-reply, but that requires getting into Troubleshoot mode to correct it. However, Troubleshoot mode will kill all add-ons etc. How do I correct the problem without losing previous work? (Better would be an update that reverses out this change.)

Somewhen before or with 91.2.1, the default action when opening an existing email became "Edit draft message." (W10 19043, synching to GMail) That setting is nonintuitive and just wrong. A default should NEVER be an action that commits to an irreversable behavior path. Please fix.

This extremely bad design "feature" has apparently been around quite a while and generates exactly the problems returned by a search here on "delete attachments Thunderbird." I first noticed the behavior just about the time GMail introduced two-factor authentication. Maybe no connection there, but ...

In thunderbird, a message "There is not enough free memory to print" when we try to print an attachment. We can print other attachments of the same size, 135 kb, but not this particular one. If we download it and print it, it will print. but not if it opened in Thunderbird.

I cannot get to INBOX. Currently Thunderbird is stuck on "Sent Mail" box. Underneath it is "Get Messages" but clicking on it does not bring up INBOX..Please Help!

Even though I cannot access the Inbox on this computer, please send to ... @charter.net. That will come in to a second computer.

the email for this computer is ... @gmail.com


edited emails from public and search/spam bots view on this community forum. nobody here does support by email and you should get email notification upon replies in thread.

We've been using thunderbird for more than 20 years now at work. It has proven itself reliable and production ready. I am sorry to say in the last 5 years or so every update has been worse than the previous one becoming the least reliable piece of software ever. Constant crashing ie 8-10 times a day, lack of smtp communication with the servers, and other constant issues basically make this unusable.

PLEASE forget about aesthetics and concentrate on reliability.

I'm looking for the easiest way to back up my local Thunderbird folders. From what I've read, the would be to back up the entire contents of my current Profile folder, as designated in the Application Basics section of the Troubleshooting Information. I recently lost years of emails I had stored in my local folders, but had not properly backed up. I have 2 accounts set up in Thunderbird, would the Profile help me restore both accounts? Any further recommendations would be much appreciated. John Freeman

Have been using TB to manage 8 disparate email addresses. Been offline for a couple of weeks; ...Thunderbird\Profiles\mjqpd8v8.default\cache2\index file is dated 20-Nov-2021 10:30

Currently running TB 91.3.2 (64-bit) off C:\ drive Win 10 20H2 (build 19042.1348). McAfee VirusScan 24.5 (build 24.5.111 via CenturyLink Security by McAfee which does not allow excluding folders, just *.exe files)

So far, I've tried:

  • starting in safe mode [thunderbird -safe-mode]
  • starting in offline mode [thunderbird -offline]
  • uninstalling / reinstalling
  • excluding thunderbird.exe from anti-virus

Recently a strange error message has started appearing at the bottom right-hand corner of my screen when I attempt to send many (but not all) emails. It reads as follows:

"Unable to connect to the IMAP server. You may have exceeded the maximum number of connections to this server. If so, use the Advanced IMAP Server Settings dialogue to reduce the number of cashed connections."

The outgoing email is usually not saved in my "Sent" folder either and I have to go through a complicated procedure of manually saving it to a folder I didn't even know existed which is called "Sent-[my email address]" and then transferring the saved email to wherever I want to store it.

What does this mean and what should I do about it and get Thunderbird working normally again?

I run TB 91.4.1. I just bought a new MacBook Pro 14" that runs Monterey (OS 12.1). Now whenever I try to reply to an email, a purple box shows up around each item: the recipient and subject boxes and the email box. I can type a few letters but add no spaces. Then the cursor jumps down to the sender's signature and that's the only place I can enter test.

I then tried creating a new email and responding from there. It won't create any spaces but will do punctuation and usually the return key works.

When I'm composing an email, periodically the system creates a purple box around my whole email list.

I don't know if this is a conflict with OS12.1 or with the M1 chip in the MacBook Pro. Ideas? Thanks.
