Now in 91, it seems to update everything all the time. (all folders).

Having 25 email accounts and 100s of folders, my imap server is at 80% CPU load at a 3 minute update interval per email account.

That ... really costs money, electricity wise.

3 minutes update for inbox is reasonable. The other folders need not be updated continously (but need to be synced for offlne on local PC).

Is there a setting for that? Playing around with 'Abonnieren' (File menu) and sync (account settings for email) didn't help, at least in how I tried it.

Anyway, it is not really clear what the difference is, but I think there is already a bug on that wording.

I ran Eudora for decades. Finally at the start of 2021 I migrated to T-Bird thru the long process of starting with old T-bird and importing old Eudora emails and then working up in versions. Now running 91.4.1 . I use it professionally and have many clients.

In other words I have been running T-bird every day for a year.

My basic issue here is the Search messages functionality has improved a wee little bit thru the newer version but it still is so crippled and lacking. As one user posted in frustration, (paraphrasing) "I do not want to know how to do all sorts of tweeks and cntl-key stuff. I just want to select search and only type one thing in and see EVERY email that has it IN ANY PART OF THE EMAIL". I am the same way and usually that is fine and I do not normally need to refine the search.

But that is so hard to achieve. Another user I saw posted in frustration with the lack of the "any header" search option and the response from t-bird folk is just to add all the to, from , subject, body things in the dialog. REALY?

Then the next step is what email folders am I interested in? Another awkward thing in t-bird. After a year I still cannot get what I want. I hate the format. The "display as list" thing is weird. And it is just returning false info on some searches.

To find a good example of search run Eudora 7 search. One tab gives you quick and easy control over the folders and the other quick and easy control of the search params with results. Super easy to get specific with searches. Thus a novice beginner can use and a proficient expert can use.

So why cannot the t-bird developer folk use Eudora search as a template for a nice search within the t-bird product? JUST START FROM SCRATCH!

SEARCH IS SO CRITICAL TO ME THAT NOW I RUN BOTH EUDORA AND T-BIRD ALL THE TIME SO THAT WHEN I NEED TO SEARCH I USE EUDORA: CRAZY!!!

So get the picture here? We need a decent search like Eudora used to have.

Hey! I'm trying out your Firebird email program on my Mac Mini. I'm using a SONY 43 inch TV and want to see my emails side by each. After all, with the TV width, that's the way to see them! Well! I've searched and read and found all kinds of lies as to how to do it. I've even tried your "help" system - and you know what? No known instances in your extensive help system can find the words "Customization" or "layout" - or any other place. And, no correspondence re this option on the web gives me any clues. And, obviously this has been a concern for years!!! All kindsa people have had similar issues in the past! -- Please don't just point to places on the web because NONE of them work!

I have Thunderbird vers. 91.5.1 (32 bits) I am on Windows 10. My ISP verizon.net which is through aol. I can retrieve and send my mail there on the web interface. I don't have a firewall, Avast Free is my antivirus ( last update was December 8) One minute I was getting and sending messages through my desktop Thunderbird, and then it stopped working. I rebooted my computer and i still have the same problem. I had not made any changes to my account settings nor to my password.

How do I get someone to unblock what ever is preventing the flow of my thunderbird messages? This happened to me a few years ago and I was able to send a message to tech support and then in a day or 2 everything opened up again.

For approximately two weeks now I am sometimes able to send email in the early morning, but after several hours I receive the error message attached regarding excessive failed authentications. It seems to reset every 24 hours. Comcast has been no help. I am connecting to the Comcast servers through the Charter/Spectrum network at my second home in North Carolina. Since it works sometimes it seems unlikely this is actually a configuration or Thunderbird issue, but I'd love to hear any ideas. Tried disabling ESET NOD32 15.0.23.0 antivirus, no change Thunderbird version 91.5.1 (64 bit), but it hasn't worked properly for several updates, and as mentioned above I don't think the problem is necessarily in Thunderbird. OS is Windows 10, just updated this morning to build 19041

After many years where I have used my company's Exchange server via Outlook to manage my own, personal, Tasks and Notes it's now time to move away from that because Google is now offering something good as an alternative.

Right now I have connected my Exchange account and the Google one with TbSync on Thunderbird 78.14.0 without problems. Before starting moving (or recreating) items I have tried to mimic my Outlook Task's view which is rather complex but I need it that way:

  • Group by: Category
  • Sort by: Completed; Priority; Due date; Name

So far I've understood that TB let me just sort by one field at a time... :-( I haven't found anything (recent, this https://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=1533455 is dated 2009!) about sorting. I haven't find any add-on too...

So my question is: did I miss something? :-) ...or it's just impossibile to do what I would like to do?

This has happened a couple of times now running the most current version of Thunderbird as of 1/25/22 and for the past week my junk mail is not moving to the junk mail folder. The settings are correct in the tools and accounts. This happened about 2 months ago and then one day it started to work, now it is not again. Any ideas. I have to go through about 300 junk emails now each day which is a waste of time.

I am using Thunderbird version 91.5.0 on an Ubuntu 20.04 machine and, since a couple of days, I find that e-mails containing an invitation to an event no longer display properly. I see the top banner with "This message contains an invitation to an event" but the rest of the e-mail does not look as it used to and it does not contain information such as the time and date of the invitation.

I have a similar problem on an Ubuntu 18.04 machine also running Thunderbird.

I would like to run AUTOMATICALLY message filters on messages in my "bulk mail" mailbox. I can run those filters manually by selecting the "bulk mail" mailbox (just underneath the Message Filter box) and pressing "Run Now", BUT as soon as I close the box, the mailbox selected goes back to the Inbox (presumably the default). Is there any way I can force, trick, bribe or persuade Thunderbird to leave the Bulk Mail box as the selected mailbox -- so that the Message Filters will run on it and not my Inbox??? Any tips will be greatly appreciated!)

I have a large archive of old messages from various accounts. They take up unnecessarily large space because they have many html formats. I am not interested in their old backgrounds or fonts, or smileyfaces etc - it would be enough for me to keep only their textual content. Is there any extension that converts multiple messages to plain text by removing html formatting?

I will add just in case that I am not interested in simply displaying the message as text, or exporting a single message to a text file. I want to convert messages to plain text in my archive mail folder box while reducing their size.
