I am using a new PC with Windows 11. I downloaded Thunderbird about 4 weeks ago, now the version is 102.5.1. I have no idea when it upgraded to this version. Everything was working fine in terms of being able to create filters for junk/spam emails until within the last few days. Now, suddenly I cannot create filters because the 'Message Rules' window does not have an 'Ok' button. Therefore I cannot add new filters because I cannot confirm the message rules. See attached screenshot. What happened and what can I do about it?

I've been using Thunderbird from day 1. Now I have a hard drive full of old e-mail, including the attachments. I don't want to delete it as the business history is valuable. What I would like to do is to move some folders to an alternate location. I want the folders to still appear in the column on the left and the hierarchy to remain, but they are physically on another drive.

For instance: V {graphic} Inbox

   V {graphic} Vendors
       V {graphic} BobsWelding
       V {graphic} JimsSteelCompany
V {graphic} JimsSteelCompany_Before1998 (this located on another drive, say d:\e-mail_backup\)
       V {graphic} RalphsFasteners
       V {graphic} GiovannisPizza

Not only would this solve the capacity issue, but would be a convenient means of backing up e-mail in a readily accessible form. I can write a full use case if it would be useful.

I am no longer able to create new mail filters. If I have an email and use "Message | Create filter from message" I can set up the filter parameters, but the "Perform filter options" section, if I select "Move message to" or "Copy message to" the destination is greyed out with "no available folders". I have the same situation if I select "Tools | Message Filters" and try to create a new filter.

I've already deleted all my .msf files and let TB recreate them, but that didn't fix it.

Dear all, One of my email accounts no longer exists, but I would like to keep the emails that are saved in Thunderbird for future reference. How can I delete the account in Thunderbird, or at least stop Thunderbird from attempting to authenticate and load new emails, while saving old emails? Apologies if this question has already been asked, but I was unable to find any help on the subject.

Thank you!

I have multiple email addresses, and I would like to group the inboxes by use (work, leisure, spam,..).

In particular, suppose I have three email addresses and would like a merged view of the first two, but not the third. How can I achieve this? Is there an add-on? (I couldn't find one.)

The best solutions I came up with:

- make a filter that moves all emails from the 1st to the 2nd inbox, and just look at the second inbox. - forward all mail - make a filter that moves all emails in the 3rd inbox to a subfolder, such that it doesn't appear in the unified inbox

All of these have drawbacks.. Specifically, I would like to reply to the emails using the email address they were sent to, which becomes cumbersome if I actually move emails from the 1st to the 2nd inbox. Moving all emails away from the 3rd inbox kinda works, but I don't like it, because it makes things awkward for other reasons. Any help is appreciated!

Hi Thunderbird community,

I am trying to setup a 2.0GB USB drive with a copy of Thunderbird portable. The problem I have is that the default behavior grows the local cache (profile / ImapMail) out of control, fills up the key, and causes failures.

So far I have: -Changed "Compact all Folders when it will save over" 1 MB -Set "Override automatic cache management" to 250MB -deleted and resynced the IMAP files in case an error was causing a failure to compact. My local cache of IMAP folders still grows out of control.

What I need is a setting to make Thunderbird not keep a local drive cache and just work out of RAM. Or at minimum hard limit the cache to around 1.2 GB.

Does anyone know how to do this and would be willing to share?

Thanks in advance, John N.

When I go to Address Book, I see that one potential source is 'Mac OS X Address Book' but there's a message saying 'No contacts available'. I am being plagued by a spammer who spoofs the domain from which the mail shows to be sent. This spammer uses a very long (perhaps 64 characters) series of random letters for the domain, and every message has a different domain thus it's impossible to block the spam by blocking the sender because there are billions of permutations. I get 15 or 20 of these crap messages every day. They come approximately every hour. I have many, many hundreds of blocked addresses in my filter, but it's useless. They just keep coming.

I realize that I may lose a few valid messages, but I want to block any message where the sending domain is more than 50 characters. Is that possible? If not, is there an alternative solution?

 Thanks,
 John

I have been using Thunderbird for several years. It has been stable, it remembered my passwords, and the calendar synchronized with my Google calendar without issue.

I recently installed a Windows update, to Windows 10 Home, version 21H1, build 19043.1889. Since the update Thunderbird frequently crashes, typically after around 10 to 30 minutes after starting.

In the hope it might resolve the crashing, I installed Thunderbird 102.2.0. Since then Thunderbird continues to crash frequently, plus I now have had the following issues:

1) Every time I start Thunderbird, Provider for Google Calendar requires me to enter my Google password and authenticate on my phone. Previously Provider just needed the password and authentication at the time of initial set up only.

2) When I click 'Get Messages', Thunderbird asks for the password to my e-mail account. If I check the box for 'Use password manager to remember this password' then 'Get Messages' always fails. If I do not check then 'Get Messages' is successful, but I have to enter the password every time.

3) Similarly, when I send an e-mail Thunderbird asks for the password to my e-mail account. If I check the box for 'Use password manager to remember this password' then sending the message always fails. If I do not check then sending the message is successful, but I have to enter the password every time.

Hello, I use Thunderbird 102.4.1 as a mail client as well as a calendar manager, and I have synchronized remote calendars, among which there are several that are not my own, with categories that I would like to rename when viewing them. Is it possible to create aliases locally to do this? Another option, perhaps more general, would be to be able to create groups of categories, to be able to give it this use, is it possible to do something like this?

Thank you.

Thunderbird 102.5.1 (no Addons installed) MacOS Ventura 13.0.1 Apple MacBookPro 13“ M1 2020

After updating to MacOS Ventura Thunderbird starting slow.

I get this error message:

Component returned failure code: 0x80550013 [nsIMsgPluggableStore.createFolder] 10 Pop3IncomingServer.jsm:135     createDefaultMailboxes resource:///modules/Pop3IncomingServer.jsm:135     _allFoldersWithFlag chrome://messenger/content/folderPane.js:1436     _allSmartFolders chrome://messenger/content/folderPane.js:1461     _addSmartFoldersForFlag chrome://messenger/content/folderPane.js:1495     generateMap chrome://messenger/content/folderPane.js:2468     _rebuild chrome://messenger/content/folderPane.js:1895     load chrome://messenger/content/folderPane.js:195     AsyncFunctionNext self-hosted:632

I have only one profile installed, but when I start Thunderbird using the terminal /Applications/Thunderbird.app/Contents/MacOS/thunderbird-bin -P

it starts very fast but I get an error

UNSUPPORTED (log once): POSSIBLE ISSUE: unit 1 GLD_TEXTURE_INDEX_2D is unloadable and bound to sampler type (Float) - using zero texture because texture unloadable

One more thing is, that I can't see any images and there is no button any more to allow it for each email separately.

I also tried to reinstall Thunderbird, but even then it starts very slow.

What can I do? Any idea?

Best regards Chris
