Hey all -

We're running Thunderbird on a terminal server, and I was wondering if there was either a registry value or a key:value entry for the policies.json management option that would allow me to set all instances of Thunderbird, globally, for all users, to download headers only and otherwise use the server (which is on the same network as our terminal server) to pass the message content?

This would be super useful for us as we'd prefer to keep messages stored on our email server, rather than downloading more copies onto our virtual terminal server, and duplicating the use of our limited space.

Is there any way to do this, so that all Thunderbird instances would be forced to operate in "headers only" mode?

Hello,

I am using Thunderbird on both Linux and Windows and ran into the same problem on both OS after installing updating to Version 91.5.0.

Under preferences I have "Always ask" enabled for PDF-Files because I want to be able to choose the action depending on the document. I have the same config for Docx-Files.

When I click on a pdf - it opens a promt where I am asked what I want to do with the document - "Open with" or "Save" and no option is pre-selected. If I then press enter, nothing happens. I have to manually click on one of the two options and then press enter or "OK" to confirm the action.

With docx for example, it works perfectly. I get the same prompt but "Save File" is pre-selected. I can press enter and another prompt about the saving location opens.

I am guessing this is a bug since I only found this issue with Pdf-Files but if it is not, please let me know where to configure this option so it auto-selects "Save File" in the prompt.

Thanks in advance for any answer!

I am using Thunderbird 91.5.0 with Windows 10 and over the past months have run into trouble with the Qucik search function. I have 3 different email accounts combined into a unified folder and upon using quick search to look for emails from a specific sender, it will only display certain emails or only the emails I wrote to that person. This also happens when I tried to search the individual email accounts. I have disabled the Global Search and uninstalled the Conversations app but the problem persists. This is driving me nuts - any help would be much appreciated as I can't continue using Thunderbird if I can't fix this. Many thanks.

I DO want to forbid remote content but I also would like to either remove the yellow warning banner or change its color because it is really eye-catching/annoying. I mean so far I have allowed remote content just for the sake of not seeing it. Which I don't think was the intended purpose of the banner.

I have seen there is a CSS hack on Windows but Thunderbird on Ubuntu does not share the same directory structure so I could not adapt it.

A hack is okay but I would also like to report it as counter-productive/bug to the devs. I highly doubt I am the only one to suffer from this annoying banner and I am pretty sure nobody is taking the time to report because they don't they can.

Thanks in advance for reading my complaint.

Hello folks,

This is a very minor thing but since installing and configuring Thunderbird the delete button on top menu has disappeared.

When you click on the top menu bar to customise it gives you the option to drag icons back and forth, I dragged the delete button but may have inadvertently let go (sounds awful :) leaving it to float off into space..

I have the delete button on reading pane which is fine (btw, how do I customise this bar?)

In the menu dialogue box I tried resetting to default which it did but still no delete button for selection or on the bar itself, difficult topic to research as it returns many entries.

Thanks all

I am on Windows 10, Thunderbird Version 91.5.0 64 BIT

I have looked in the various threads that cover this particular issue, Most of the addons are not compatible with my version.

after looking around, I stumbled on some changes to the userChrome.css file that should work.

The first part of the css file, changes backwound colors. This works

the part is not working is what I assume will change the font and its size.

I would appreciate any help...

While deleting lots of junk from from my wife's inbox, I managed to move the whole of the inbox to the junk file ( thanks for making this so easy to do ). Now I'm struggling to move the files back, and incoming mail goes directly to junk........ Trying to discover just which filters or settings are causing these problems is a nightmare and I'm hoping that there is some sort of restore function hidden in the program........ Thanks in advance.

Hello,

Everything was fine with TB and a few months ago i could no longer add a new folder. I upgraded to the latest version and it did not solve my problem. I disliked ver.78 so much i went back to 68.12.1 32bit. Not sure why 32 since my computer is a 64bit windows 7.

Anyway, I have seven email accounts in TB. Personal, multiple businesses plus my junk account. I can create folders in all of the accounts except my main personal account. The main account does have a lot of folders and sub folders already. Also, For some reason 2018,19,20 tax return folders are now in the archive folder and not "tax return" folder.

All other 6 email accounts are acting as normal. Noting missing, can create and delete folders as always.

I have read countless post/forums and can not isolate this problem.

Thanks in advance, Chris

I have been having difficulties with Thunderbird account definitions for 6 months. I didn't recognize it as a definitions problem because I hadn't made any Thunderbird changes. I finally have all but 1 of my 5 email accounts working... but, my now-working Gmail account has a lot of extraneous folders (like multiple trash bins, etc; see attached).

Gmail shows 2 lists of incoming email: "Inbox" and "All mail". The "Inbox" folder is incomplete, most recent email shown is from last August; the "All Mail" folder appears to contain a complete list of emails for the Gmail account.

Can I get rid of all the extraneous folders? How?

html templates not saving correctly

I'm using Thunderbird on Windows 10, and it's up to date.

I made a html template for body of the email. Let's say the template is saved in Notepad. And it's all inlined.

When I copy/paste the html code from the Notepad, and insert it as HTML in email and send the email, everything appears as intended. So I saved it as a template in Thunderbird. When I send an email from the Thunderbird template, the email looks not as intended. (More specifically, no "dark mode" logo)

Is there any explanation why the two outcomes look different?

When I looked at the source from "View source", I found some differences (obviously):

  1. 1. From the Notepad code, everything is organized perfectly (<style></style> content .
  1. 2. From the email that appears intended, things are rearranged a bit (<style></style> content )
  1. 3. From the email that looks wrong (the one sent from Thunderbird template folder), it's basically in the structure as in #2, except style is at the very end of the body ( content <style></style>), and apparently it stripped off all "@media (prefers-color-scheme: dark)" part, which is the reason it messes up the dark mode logo, i presume.

I opened the template again and checked the inserted HTML, and as I expected, it didn't save the "@media" part. Clearly, Thunderbird is capable of sending an email with "@media" in the style tag. Why wouldn't it save it in the template?

Like many others, I am of two minds on the recent change to TB opening pdf files in the browser. On the plus side, it is faster an more convenient. But there is negative aspect - sometimes I need to do things to the file and that is not possible in the TB viewer. Whence the suggestion: instead of the drop-down menu with Open, Save as, etc. why not have in addition to (or instead of) OPEN a menu OPEN WITH. Even better, the open with menu could be populated in preferences by the apps we wish to use.
