I'm trying to switch over from Outlook, which I've been using for like 20 years, to Thunderbird completely. My ISP keeps jerking us around with account setting within Outlook and I'm tired of messing with them. One thing I did in Outlook was use one email as a document/notepad. All I had to do was open the message and then select 'Edit Message' under 'Other Actions'. Basically I was now in MS Word editing a document. Does Thunderbird have any comparable tool? I tried the Add-On 'Header Tools Lite' but the text wasn't plain text. OR, is there a way to open a MS document within the Thunderbird program? If I can't edit the contents of a message's body maybe I could open a Word document from within Thunderbird and do my editing. Thanks in advance. BTW - Thunderbird is sure a nicely put together mail program. I use it all the time even before the switch.

thunderbird 102.6.1 64bit linux 6.1.8

I am looking to transfer our email accounts to a new host. Alas, the way the new host has configured their server (dovecot), all folders show has subfolders of the INBOX. Any folder created is a subfolder, and there is no way to move folders to the same level as INBOX.

Is there a way to have TB ignore the initial prefix (INBOX)?

Background info: My PC was recently repaired and since it came back from the shop some emails 'appeared' to be missing. When I searched using a broad search name fortunately I found them BUT I can't keep doing that.

I have looked at the 'help' area and it looks as if, by default, my messages are being 'Threaded'. (A few arrows next to the subject column). I can't cope with this.

Using the help menu I have now selected that messages are not Threaded I hope it works.

But my questions are: 'Can I? and How do I? Unthread the emails that have threaded themselves in the last few weeks? Thank you for any advice you can offer.

This question was asked here and the answer worked for some years, but no longer does.

The method was pretty simple, just change browser.tabs.loadDivertedInBackground from the default FALSE to TRUE.

An update in the last few months (not sure which) broke this. So, what is the new way of doing this?

(Running TB v102.4.2 on LM 20.4)

A while back I tried out the Saved Search feature, and I created my first Saved Search. Now I can't find it! I know how to create a new Saved Search: 1 File/New/Saved Search 2 Save as Search Folder from the Search Messages screen

But how do I invoke a Saved Search? Apparently not from when I click on "Search Messages". Is there a "Use Saved Search" option? Or do I have to locate the Saved Search folders? If that's it, where are they located? As I indicated above, I've only created one so far. I can't find any menu item saying Invoke Saved Search or similar verbiage.

Hi, I have a Windstream email account connected to Thunderbird. In all my account has 9 folders under my Inbox. However, in Thunderbird, only 5 show up. It's ok if TB can only handle 5 subfolders under an inbox. However, some of the ones that TB displays, I don't want or need in TB; but some folders that don't show up, I do need to access on TB. One folder that does not show up is one I recently created on the Windstream email website. I have looked all over TB to try to find how to toggle which folders and subfolders appear for an email account. Can anybody help?

Windows 10 Thunderbird 102.6.1 (64-bit)

In all of my mail folders the 'Date' column displays as 'HH:MM' (24 hr format). [NOTE: I just installed TB today so none of my emails are showing a date component, yet]

I would like all date/times to display based on my (Windows 10) regional settings (US/English) but none of those date/time formats are being used by TB. [NOTE: Settings > General > rado button is selected for 'Regional settings locale: English (United States)']

OK, maybe I have to configure something explicitly in TB ... I've followed the instructions listed in the following document for configuring custom date/time override preferences:

   https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/customize-date-time-formats-thunderbird

But TB still refuses to use any of my custom configs for the 'Date' column (mail folders). [NOTE: yes, I rebooted/bounced TB]

Current settings:

   intl.regional_prefs.use_os_locales true
   intl.date_time.pattern_override.date_full MM/dd/YYYY
   intl.date_time.pattern_override.date_long MM/dd/YYYY
   intl.date_time.pattern_override.date_medium MM/dd/YYYY
   intl.date_time.pattern_override.date_short MM/dd/YYYY
   intl.date_time.pattern_override.time_short HH:mm

NOTE: I added the medium/long/full settings not knowing which setting the 'Date' column uses.

What (obvious ?) detail or step am I missing to get the 'Date' column (mail folders) to pick up the desired date/time formats?

Thanks, Mark

Hello.

I am very happy with Thunderbird and would prefer not to switch to another program.

I just got myself a new computer and then this problem occurred... The threads come up in my emails and I do NOT want that to happen. It makes the overview of the emails unclear and very confusing. And I do not see clearly if I have read them or not.

I have searched and searched a lot online to find out... but have not succeeded. (my son also tried..)

So I am wondering how I can have the emails coming up one by one (like before), without having the threads..?

The screenshot shows how the email come up for me in Thunderbird, I would like them to come "one by one" without the threads..

Would appreciate your reply!
