Hello,

I am using Thunderbird on both Linux and Windows and ran into the same problem on both OS after installing updating to Version 91.5.0.

Under preferences I have "Always ask" enabled for PDF-Files because I want to be able to choose the action depending on the document. I have the same config for Docx-Files.

When I click on a pdf - it opens a promt where I am asked what I want to do with the document - "Open with" or "Save" and no option is pre-selected. If I then press enter, nothing happens. I have to manually click on one of the two options and then press enter or "OK" to confirm the action.

With docx for example, it works perfectly. I get the same prompt but "Save File" is pre-selected. I can press enter and another prompt about the saving location opens.

I am guessing this is a bug since I only found this issue with Pdf-Files but if it is not, please let me know where to configure this option so it auto-selects "Save File" in the prompt.

Thanks in advance for any answer!

While deleting lots of junk from from my wife's inbox, I managed to move the whole of the inbox to the junk file ( thanks for making this so easy to do ). Now I'm struggling to move the files back, and incoming mail goes directly to junk........ Trying to discover just which filters or settings are causing these problems is a nightmare and I'm hoping that there is some sort of restore function hidden in the program........ Thanks in advance.

Hello,

Everything was fine with TB and a few months ago i could no longer add a new folder. I upgraded to the latest version and it did not solve my problem. I disliked ver.78 so much i went back to 68.12.1 32bit. Not sure why 32 since my computer is a 64bit windows 7.

Anyway, I have seven email accounts in TB. Personal, multiple businesses plus my junk account. I can create folders in all of the accounts except my main personal account. The main account does have a lot of folders and sub folders already. Also, For some reason 2018,19,20 tax return folders are now in the archive folder and not "tax return" folder.

All other 6 email accounts are acting as normal. Noting missing, can create and delete folders as always.

I have read countless post/forums and can not isolate this problem.

Thanks in advance, Chris

html templates not saving correctly

I'm using Thunderbird on Windows 10, and it's up to date.

I made a html template for body of the email. Let's say the template is saved in Notepad. And it's all inlined.

When I copy/paste the html code from the Notepad, and insert it as HTML in email and send the email, everything appears as intended. So I saved it as a template in Thunderbird. When I send an email from the Thunderbird template, the email looks not as intended. (More specifically, no "dark mode" logo)

Is there any explanation why the two outcomes look different?

When I looked at the source from "View source", I found some differences (obviously):

  1. 1. From the Notepad code, everything is organized perfectly (<style></style> content .
  1. 2. From the email that appears intended, things are rearranged a bit (<style></style> content )
  1. 3. From the email that looks wrong (the one sent from Thunderbird template folder), it's basically in the structure as in #2, except style is at the very end of the body ( content <style></style>), and apparently it stripped off all "@media (prefers-color-scheme: dark)" part, which is the reason it messes up the dark mode logo, i presume.

I opened the template again and checked the inserted HTML, and as I expected, it didn't save the "@media" part. Clearly, Thunderbird is capable of sending an email with "@media" in the style tag. Why wouldn't it save it in the template?

I like Thunderbird and have been using it for a while. However, I strongly dislike the tree-style view on the left, when it comes to multiple accounts. As soon as I add another account, it becomes a problem.

I want separate windows, possibly tabs, or some other way to logically and completely separate accounts. Switching to another account should require a step. I don't want them to share a view. I should only see folders from one account at a time. For me, it doesn't matter if it's two accounts or ten. This setup doesn't work.

Is there any way to customize this so I can work effectively?

HI,

I have a few filters that I set to delete old messages (> 7 days old). The filters are set to run when fetching messages and before junk classification. Yet, periodically, I need to run them manually for them to execute. For example, this morning I found that one of my inboxes had messages that were older than 30 days. When I ran the filters manually, they were cleaned up as I expected.

Am I understanding something incorrectly? Am I setting up my filters incorrectly? Or is this a bug?

I'm on version 91.4 on Windows 10.

Thanks,

L

Just WHY is this a constant battle with UI "designers" (more like UI destroyers)? I want my scrollbars to be of a usable width (not super wide mind you, just textured and visible/clickable), **AND** I want them to have arrows at the top and bottom (or left & right if it's a horizontal one). Somewhere there must be a design school where the professors are *flunking* students if they dare to make interfaces that are actually usable and customizable.

I have the ~/.gtkrc-2.0.mine and ~/.config/gtk-3.0/gtk.css files with the appropriate "has-forward/backward-stepper" lines in each. Firefox 91 is working correctly. But it would appear TB isn't looking at those settings. So just where are the settings being buried this time? And will they continue to be respected without the Apple/Google/Microsoft attitude that only *THEY* can decide how your system will look/work?

I was trying to place a dashed line between the email rows by placing

  1. threadTree > treechildren::-moz-tree-row {

border-bottom: 2px dashed #ccc!important; }

in userChrome.css and put it in the 'chrome' folder in the profile folder and it is not working. When I first went to the profile folder the 'chrome' folder did not exist so I created it and then saved the above code in userChrome.css and then started Thunderbird and didn't see the lines between the emails as I was expecting. Should 'chrome' folder have existed when Thunderbird was installed?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hello Mozilla Support, today I discovered a Thunderbird feature called 'Activity Monitor'. As I'm sure this is an excellent tool for others, for me, it is not. How can I deactivate this feature? I do realize that someone has always asked this question, but the answer was in my view inappropriate. It should be a user preference to have this feature popping up with a list of all my activities at any given time. According to the answer that was given another person who asked this question, the feature is buggy because it popped up on it's own without ever being selected by me from tools. If it hadn't, I would never have known such a feature exists within Thunderbird.

Thank you, in advance.
