Cannot download mail in Thunderbird Portable

For no apparent reason and all of a sudden I cannot download email. I can still send email. I tried all the suggested remedies and checked all my settings. Running 91.5… (read more)

For no apparent reason and all of a sudden I cannot download email. I can still send email. I tried all the suggested remedies and checked all my settings. Running 91.5.1/Win10Pro I can download my mail on my phone and tablet as well as using the web based access on my PC. I tried disabling both my AV, and Defender. No clue where to go from here. Any guidance will be very much appreciated. Thanks!!

Running Windows 11 This morning I was not able to get to my Verizon/Aol email through Thunderbird. Thunderbird went through it's usual start up process and contacted the server but stalled at "Sending Password". Error message said "Sending of password did not succeed. Try again later." So I tried again this afternoon and get the same response. I checked and the server is reported up and working well. Doing some further checking I see Thunderbird updated this morning from version 91.5.0 to version 91.5.1 . It seems that since this update I'm no longer able to get into my mail server using Thunderbird. Thoughts ??? Thanks for your help.

The update to version 91.5.0 just knocked out many of my messages. How do I get them back? How do I revert to an earlier version?

Frequently, when I've used Thunderbird to 'Detach' an attachment from a message on Yahoo's mail server, the entire message just disappears! It's not in Trash, just gone for good, and it don't show up when using Yahoo's web interface either. I've noticed this behavior when detaching from Sent messages, not sure about Inbox.

I more often do this maintenance for my FastMail account, which has a quota, so I probably should just remember to stop doing that with Yahoo, but it's puzzling. I've never seen that happen with any other mail server. I'm curious if this is a known issue.

I am unable to access my e-mail account using Thunderbird. I just updated Thunderbird to ver. 91.5.1, but the problem was occurring under version 91.5.0. Following the Thunderbird help instructions, I successfully removed my mail account. Now, I am unable to recreate the mail account. Using <Tools|Account Actions|Add Mail Account> I entered the data to describe my current mail account on AOL.com. I can successfully retrieve my mail on AOL.com. When I attempt to set up the new mail account in Thunderbird, I get the message: "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username, or password." I am using Firefox 96.0.2. I do not have a firewall. I successfully uninstalled MalwareBytes.Free. I do not understand what I is going on.

Help! ... I now use Yahoo Mail accounts on Thunderbird. I keep getting a window pop-up: "Server imap.mail.yahoo.com has disconnected." and Thunderbird stops working. This has been going on for over a month and I thought re-addressing AuthO2 thru Yahoo Accounts would have stopped these pop-up windows, but nope. This is frustrating as I use Thunderbird for our business as well as personal. I have to constantly reboot Thunderbird to get it working again for around 10 minutes before it goes down again & I have to re-boot. What's going on here? The complete message in window pop-up reads: [ Server imap.mail.yahoo.com has disconnected. The server may have gone down or there may be a network problem. ] I've never had this problem with Gmail accounts or Verizon accounts before we transferred accounts to Yahoo & I've been using Thunderbird for over 25 years. Hi all, I have two computers both running Windows 10 and both have Thunderbird 78.14.0 but one of computers is running Thunderbird 78.14.0 (64-bit) whilst the other is running 78.14.0 (32-bit). The one running the 32 bit works fine and prints everything no problem but the PC running the 64 bit has a horrible layout and the messages that are saved in the sent folder look different and printing is horrible. Is this an issue with the 64 or 32 bit or is it something that is different in the settings. If I downgraded to 32 bit would that solve the problem ? If so, how to I downgrade Thunderbird from 64 to 32 bit ? Thank you.

I can not get thunderbird to bring over email for 6 days now I get the following error everytime. (Sending of password for user .........................@verizon.net did not succeed. Mail server pop.verizon.net responded: [SYS/TEMP] Server error - Please try again later.) I have tried creating a new password on the server account and restarting thunderbird with the new password . Did not help. Any Suggestions?

I installed Thunderbird 2 months ago and it has been working fine until today. Upon sending an email I get this error box: (see image) If I try sending it again it usually just sends normally. Sometimes it takes 4 or 5 tries to go. I have no idea why this is happening. I have not changed anything. Any ideas?

I am using Aol mail for my verizon email account. On Wednesday 1/19/22 I no longer could access my emails with Thunderbird. I removed my account and then added it back but I now get "unable to login at the server" message. I know my password is correct because I am able to login to Aol using the web interface. Thunderbird is able to find other settings such as

For Incoming server: Protocol: POP3 Hostname: Left blank for confidentiality) Port: 995 Connection security: SSL/TSL Authentication method: Normal Password Username: My first and last name

For Outgoing server Hostname: SMTP.verizon.net Port: 465 Connection security: SSL/TSL Authentication method: Normal Password Username: My first and last name

Was there a change in the latest release of Thunderbird 95.1.0 on 1/13/21 that could be causing this problem? Any other thoughts on what could be causing the issue?

Guys hello! I was using thunderbird for my mails on windows 7 on an old machine..Recently it started crashing on startup..I checked for solution on google then i found out i could start with safe mode only...(i wasnt using any addons so disabling them had zero effect)

Because i didnt want to continue with safe mode only, So i zipped my profile folder and created a backup.. Then i downloaded Thunderbird Setup 91.5.0.exe and tried fresh install with deleting the old profile directory...

Now thunderbird doesnt start even with 0 profile..It doesnt start with safe mode too ! I cannot even go to profile manager (thunderbird.exe -p )

I dont know what to do!

I have found crash id but i cannot understand what the problem is! Can anyone help ?

Installed Thunderbird over the weekend...made a modest donation...installed the email client, configured and it was running fine (I did have one issue, but I'll deal with that later), but yesterday I noticed it hadn't downloaded email since Jan 18, it's now Jan 20. No problem getting the email on my Android phone.

I found a similar support request on this site, but the instructions to try to fix the problem didn't match my version of T-bird. I.e., it said to go to Options, etc., and to remove the password. But I don't have Options, the closest thing I have is Account Settings and I don't see where I can remove the password.

The rotating cursor never stops and the dot next to Inbox in the upper left keeps shifting back and forth.

I have been using Thunderbird for many years to read and send my verizon.net email. 2 days ago I started getting the error message "Sending of password for user ____@verizon.net did not succeed. Mail server pop.verizon.net responded [SYS/TEMP] server error - Please try again later." I am running Thunderbird 91.5.0 on Windows 10. In the various help files, I see reference to OAuth2 authentication. Thunderbird won't let me select this for pop.verizon.net. I tried automatically selecting authentication but Thunderbird sets authentication to "Normal". The AOL documentation shows that I can use IMAP instead of POP, but Thunderbird won't let me set anything but POP. How can I get reconnected to verizon.net email? Thanks Penn Hess

When I click on my Inbox there is a delay in receipt of emails and more often than not I receive a Thunderbird fault message saying " Unable to connect to your IMAP server. You may have exceeded the maximum number of connections to this server". I have asked my server and there is no restriction on the number of connections I can make. Can you explain the reason for sending this message and the delays I am experiencing ? Thank you, Michael Osborne

TB 91.5.0 on Windows 10 (with profile folder excluded from virus scan)

The latest update to seems to have resurrected a problem with saving copies of sent emails. Sending works fine, but copying of the sent email to the sent folder causes the send dialog to hang. Disabling the "Place a copy in:" option in account settings eliminates the problem. Using the "Other" option to place it in a local folder works *that is not part of a unified folder* works OK.

I have tried repairing folders and deleting the sent files inside "smart folders" in the profile, with no luck.

Hi, when browsing through messages in a TB folder it shoes the message content immediately when selected by mouse, but when I use up or down key there is a long delay before the message is loaded. It makes it unusable when searching for something and very annoying in general. It looks like a bug because the cpu use is 0, so it certainly just waits for no reason, but in case it is a "feature" I want to know how to remove that delay.
