Why are deleted folders still showing up but grayed out/italic and inaccessible?

I have deleted several folders in my IMAP account but they are still showing up in my folders list but are grayed out and italic. I cannot reach the mail folder and error " The current operation did not succeed. The mail server for account ##### responded: Folder does not exist" How can I get rid of this folder permanently?

I have found it is usually easier to unsubscribe from seeing the folder and then delte the folder via webmail. Have you unsubscribed from seeing the folder(s)?

I have found it is usually easier to unsubscribe from seeing the folder and then delte the folder via webmail. Have you unsubscribed from seeing the folder(s)?

I had unsubscribed from the folders but the sub folders still had subscriptions so after un checking all of those the finally went away!! Thanks so much!
