When creating shortcuts Firefox is dropping them into various folders on my desktop and not just on the desktop. This makes the shortcut very difficult to find. How can I stop this

I have created a few folders on my desktop to contain similar web shortcuts. When creating new shortcuts with Firefox, these are being dropped into either of these folders, which is making them difficult to find and drag out onto the desktop for future use. I want to create a shortcut, but for it to be placed on the desktop and NOT into one of the already created folders
