inbox displays the subject and date only of new emails ie NO message is shown nor any activity eg delete, forward etc. Double click on email and it is displayed in a new window

Does or will Thunderbird provide capability for Contact Group Lists and Contact Sub-Folders as does Microsoft Outlook, which I am looking to replace? Thanks in advance.

I have just read that TB's policy is to delete messages in the trash after a certain amount of time.

I'm not sure what policy they follow for this, as the Activity Manager says "Deleted 1 message fom Trash", but does not let you know what msge was deleted. When I look at my trash, I can see I have things from YEARS ago, so I'm wondering what they follow to have things deleted.

However, in the end, I don't really like that TB deletes things even in my trash. I get this is to save space, but I personally do not care about space, and I use my emails like a database where I have saved myself from looking back into my trash and remembering something I failed to do for instance. Or even something I accidentally deleted and found it again.

Anyway, The fact that there is a setting in Account Settings -> Synchronization & Storage -> Do not delete any messages and TB still deletes the trash it its own discretion sucks.

I love TB and want to use it forever. Is there a place I can voice this to them and ask they provide an options to not deleted anything on any folders. Or maybe prompt to delete something first, show us what that email is.

I get I can create another folder, but I'm much happier just hitting the delete button, but know that this email will linger somewhere in another folder...

The one big problem I have regularly with Thunderbird is losing important messages because they are hidden away in a thread. Even if I have marked them with a star this doesn't help them to be visible in my inbox. Instead I am having to guess at a suitable search term to find these messages (often support from Email addresses I do not normally correspond with). I realise I can (in theory) switch threading off (although this didn't seem to actually work for me), but I otherwise like the feature - once I have found the message, it's great to see the thread.

I would like to be able to show threads in a different colour to make them stand out in my mailbox - I realise there is a small grey symbol against threads, but this isn't very visible and doesn't seem to help.

One other possibility that might be even better, is to expand threads with unread messages, but I couldn't see a way to do this either.

Please Help Need Authorization for debora@reprographicsupply.com emails to forward to our Thunderbird software, Microsoft/Outlook.office365 not responding. This morning all 5 of our emails did not work. I called godaddy (domain held with them) They had me login to godaddy & reset all 5 email accounts passwords. Then sent me back to outlook.office.com to try to login each address. It was successful. Then we went to my Thunderbird app (on Windows PC) than server settings for each email address & change Authorization to: OAuth2 Meanwhile, you sent a popup window for debora@reprographicsupply.com to RE:Authorize forwarding the emails from MICROSOFT OUTLOOK.OFFICE365 BUT!! GODADDY TECH said ignore the popup window and cancel it. Oops, I did just that. Then she had me reboot Thunderbird & the computer. Then went back into Thunderbird & the popup window appeared again for authorizing ONLY emails to be forwarded for info, dwayne, sheila, chris but NOT debora. Info, dwayne, sheila, chris are now receiving emails in Thunderbird But Not debora. Debora can send emails from Thunderbird but cannot receive emails into Thunderbird all because the Microsoft Outlook.office365 authorization popup window no long pops up: therefore, it would be appreciated

if you can get Microsoft/Outlook.Office365 people to email info@reprographicsupply.com a request on our behalf, so we can authorize debora@reprographicsupply.com emails be forwarded to our Thunderbird software. We get no response from Microsoft.

I use Thunderbird as my RSS reader, it actually works really well, thanks Thunderbird.

However, I have one nagging annoyance. The message pane on the main page reloads if i open a new tab, actually all the tabs reload when i open a new tab.

For example, my RSS loads youtube videos in its original page, I open one in a tab, click on another, that previous tab has now unloaded, reloads when i next click on it. Is there anyway to keep the message pane and the tabs loaded, rather than reloading every time?

Any help would be amazing thank you.

My Thunderbird was no longer able to compact my Inbox in my local folder. I tried clicking repair the Inbox... to my horror all my current emails went missing and now I am looking at emails from 2010 - 2017. Weirdly when I clicked get mail it loaded only current emails that I had not downloaded prior to the repair. I am on a mac and am using a pop3 account. Can I recover the current emails, some of which only lived in my Thunderbird Inbox as they had been manually removed from the server?

Back in April three Security Exception windows started popping up in TB 102.11.2 (not sending mail or retrieving mail) and if I view it, the certificate shows an expired date. The port being accessed is 2080.

I don't seem to be missing any mail and they just popup on their own at times (something in the background?). I use IMAP settings and Eset as my AV. It doesn't happen to my wife's TB install and she uses the same email server and AV. It happens on all four computers where I have my account being accessed by TB.

I have scanned the PC with ESET NOD32 and Malwarebytes and neither reports viruses. I don't want to override the warning so I have to close the three windows over and over and over and I am going mad....

I turned off the eset feature that says to ask if a SSL exception is reported. I set it to block, not ask, and rebooted. The popups continue and the email provider support says their certificates are up to date.

Anyone know why port 2080? Could it be related to something other than inbound and outbound email that TB is trying to access?

What do you suggest i use for an email program if you go forward with the Microsoft like abortion of Thunderbird? The new Beta version looks like crap what is wrong with the old layout??????? It looks like the Microsoft borg has infested your software department.

I installed the new beta version it pretty much looks 100% unusable and I almost lost all my emails when doing the install. fortunately I backed up the proper folders so I could go back the the usable version of Thunderbird.

I am trying to get that add-on on my new laptop and have not found a way of verifying the softwre. I have it on my PC as an exchange to Microsoft 365, which I dislike intensely as a mailserver. Please help me.

I rebooted my computer and now Thunderbird says, "Sending of password for user johnrp9265@comcast.net did not succeed. Mail server mail.comcast.net responded: [AUTH] Authentication failed."

I've tried entering my password, but it repeatedly tells me that it's incorrect. I've tried several other passwords and none of them work. How do I reset my password for Thunderbird?

I have no usable Menu options at the top of the Thunderbird email screen. I hit a wrong key yesterday and things such as Write, Reply, Print, Send, Delete, Junk, etc. have disappeared. I read some possible things to help but I do not have III on the upper right of my screen and pressing Alt when opening Thunderbird also does not work. HELP!

I was receiving my email from outlook.com and part way through, I get this message: The STAT command did not succeed. Error getting message number and sizes. Mail server pop-mail.outlook.com responded: Server Unavailable. 21

I was able to read the emails directly on the server and deleted each after reading. But nothing else will come into Thunderbird. I get the above error each time.

I always use Thunderbird with the Quick Filter set to "Unread" messages.

When I delete an unread email, it disappears right away from the view, however when I mark an unread email as "Read" it stays there along with all other "Unread" emails: why doesn't it disappear (since I'm filtering for "Unread" emails and it is a "Read" one now)?

Hi there,

I've used (and liked using) Thunderbird as my email platform for more than a decade now. This morning I found out that my primary (GoDaddy supported) email account is no longer compatible with POP or IMAP settings. I've been trying to make the necessary settings changes with help from GoDaddy tech support, but they can't ensure that my contacts, emails, etc. will be saved in the process. Can you please explain how I can export/back up everything in my Thunderbird account before I make changes to the account?

After installing Thunderbird on new computer, I copied the profile from old computer. On the new computer I have two duplicate email names--one with emails from the last several months and one with only a week of new emails. How to fix the problem? I've tried removing Thunderbird and re-installing it, but the duplicates are still there? TIA

I have recently installed Thunderbird version 102.12.0 as my email server. I created a "Default Identity" and put in my first and last name in the "Your Name" section. When I send emails, however, the recipient only sees my first name and email address in the "From" line. I would like them to see my first and last name and not to see the email address in the "From" line.
