Is there a way to make sure pw gets saved?

I am new to Firefox, when I joined the other day I was having a little trouble navigating the browser, I got frustrated and logged off. The next day, (yesterday) when I tried to login, it told me my pw doesn't work, it directed me to a pg to reset the pw, I tried at least 10x to get a code but the email never came.
