Using TB version 102.10.1. Been recently getting messages from three different senders that I wish to delete before they hit my inbox. I read the help article at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/blocking-sender and followed the directions to set up a Block List filter, adding the senders to it. It seems to work automatically for two of the senders but not the other...I have to manually run the filter to make it work. Seems kinda pointless when, if it hits my inbox, I can just delete it anyway. Any ideas why it is still getting through the filter and how to fix it? See screenshots attached.

One of the facilities in my old email client Turnpike (killed off by Microsoft!) was that if I looked at an address, say for example John Smith <johnsmith@xxxxx.xx> it listed all the emails to or from that eddress. I have always found this very useful.

Is it possible to do this with Thunderbird?

since the last update, my trash folders have only been keeping a few days worth of deleted emails. It used to keep them for 30 days and I didn't change any settings. I've searched through settings to figure out how to change this, but I don't see anything that says it's set to remove them after any period of time.

I'd love it if someone could help me with this!

Thank you!

Updated Thunderbird today. Sending the first message after the seemingly successful install resulted with an error stating it could not save the file to the sent folder, save manually. I clicked save got a message the file was saved, though I did not save the location (sorry). I sent another message and it never saved that sent file or even complaint about it. I did send Bcc and got the mail but no sent file entry. Please advise if this is a bug and if you are working on it. Rolf D Ebert

TB has been extremely finicky the past few days with send and receive. The biggest issue is that the Get Messages / Get All New Messages stops responding altogether - it works fine, and then suddenly nothing except (sometimes) the word "null" next to the online icon at the bottom left, and a pulsating blue progress bar in the Activity Manager area, that disappears after a moment.

A few times I have been able to "fix" it by going to Server Settings and changing Connection Security to None temporarily, but this doesn't work every time.

Another "solution" is to change the password on the mail server, which prompts TB to demand the PW. This is not a good solution, as the password must then be changed on any/every other device that connects to the mail server, and then the problem repeats after some period.

Other times, and per a suggestion on another thread with a similar subject line, clicking on the "go offline" icon at the bottom, generates a prompt to download emails before going offline, and this seems to cause a demand for password, which allows emails to be downloaded, but this also seems like a band-aid. What is going on here? Windows 10 64 Bit TB 102.11.0 (64-bit)

Thunderbird problem: The system was fully operational on 2nd June but nothing available on my Main PC in my office. Incoming Emails and outgoing Emails are not working on two of my accounts with AOL and one Gmail account. The cursor wheel continuously revolves if I attempt to view incoming messages for each of the accounts.

I have attempted to adjust the security settings but this did not work. I need my office PC to be able to respond and print out urgent info.

My main office Email address has nothing in the in-box whereas my mobile phone version is fully populated and functional.

Please advise best solution without having to reinstall Thunderbird My email addresses are: [edited from public] @aol.com , [edited] @aol.com & [edited] @outlook.com

Some spammer got my email and I'm getting a slew of messages every day. Apple flags them and puts them in my Junk folder. However, either Apple or Thunderbird occasionally flags a real email as spam, and puts it in the same folder. With the number of real spam messages in that folder, it's getting harder and harder to filter by hand.

What I'd like to do is write a Manual filter and run it on the Junk folder, and move the highly likely spam to a local folder that I'll review periodically (or never if I can get a good enough algorithm down)

However, nothing I craft operates on the Junk folder - even a simple rule like "Original-Recipient" contains my address does anything. I even took my complex set of matches and made it Any instead of All - nothing.

Suggestions on what I might do very welcome!

(After the hacker attack we had to restore the encrypted mail from an older backup) The IMAP profile has been restored from backup, msgFilterRules.dat set as before backup, but incoming mail subject to filters remains in INBOX. But when manually running any filter, it moves particular message to the target folder. I've searched dozen of messages at support.mozilla.org for relevant topics, but my problem is not described.

The pattern of the rule that does not work: name="[rule name]" enabled="yes" type="17" action="Move to folder" actionValue="imap://account.name@mail.domain.cz/INBOX/existing destination folder" condition="AND (all addresses,contains,name@domain.cz) AND (all addresses, doesn't contain,my.name)"

All my colleagues on the same domain, with IMAP accounts, have this problem. TB 102.11.2 (64-bit) WIN 10

Please excuse my unfamiliarity with the technical vocabulary.

Earlier this year I switched on Thunderbird to see what new emails had arrived. It started downloading ALL my emails from two of the five email accounts I have. I have a lot of emails as the accounts date from 2010.

Because I was concerned that I might exceed limits on the number of emails I can store on Thunderbird I spent hours going through the different folders and deleting as many of the duplicates as I could.

I switched on Thunderbird today and saw that the same process was happening again. In the time it took me to click on 'Work Offline' it had downloaded 263 emails I already have!

I would be very grateful if someone could tell me:

How can I stop it downloading the hundreds of other old emails? How can I stop this process ever happening again? Why is it happening at all?

Thank you for taking the time to read my request.

For obvious reasons I have unticked the 'Email me when someone answers the thread' so I may be a little slow in acknowledging any responses.

I have used Thunderbird for MANY years, so I'm not new to it. When using address book I want to be able to select multiple non-contiguous addresses and send email to those addresses only. No matter which of the hints I try in your new instructions, I cannot get this to work. I select one address, press the appropriate key to select the next one, but then first one de-selects. I have spent LITERALLY hours experimenting in an attempt to get this feature to work.

It doesn't work on my iMac or my MacBook Pro, both of which are using the latest Mac OS and the latest Thunderbird release.
