Why won't firefox accept my phone number? 'Invalid phone number'. I've tried many options.

I want to sync my phone with my computer but everytime I get to the 'enter your phone number' section, it comes up with an alert 'Invalid phone number'. There is no additional information provided as to why it is incorrect. I've tried it with my country code, without my country code, with the '+' at the beginning etc etc. It won't accept any option I've tried, but won't tell me what's wrong...just that it's incorrect.
